MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Can confirm newsdemon is 100% for NNTP.

However, Spotify is patchy (breaks up) and there appears to be shaping of Netflix / Hulu.

Which is strange, because Youtube 720P / 1080 flies.

May be because their network is also not currently perfect either. Will monitor.

If Youtube is perfect and the 'bonus' things like torrents/nntp etc; are acceptablethen I'm happy.

Imaginet is giving away 5GB accounts right now if anyone's interested...

Could someone please tell me how do I go about canceling my MWEB uncapped? I can't seem to find anything on their accounts page but I did just scan it quickly. Do I have send them something? and if so where can I find it? I remember way back in dialup days I actually had to Fax in a form to cancel.

Been an extremely happy customer since they launched the Uncapped but it would seem it's time to look elsewhere :(

You phone them.

+1 million.

I'm using an Afrihost Business Uncapped 10meg account for R1 currently - it's incredibly good.

5 days to assess their shaping/throttling of protocols then will decide.

I might be wrong, but if you did not cancel that account before the 25th (24th or earlier) you will be billed for next month.

Mweb has fallen and can't get up, I moved away recently and couldn't be happier.

My current line speed is 750kb/s on a 10Mbit account so not sure why mweb has no backup.

I still have not had my question answered. What does Seacom got to do with local? Why do my local pages time out? Is MyBB hosted internationally? I think Not. I have capped out my spare Afrihost account and now last ditch is using what remains on the free Vox account I got when I purchased my Black Ops 2.

1) Some sites, even though ending in .co.za may be hosted overseas.
2) A lot of sites have things like "Follow us on Twitter!" and other things which are embedded and use internnational servers.
3) Some sites have off-site scripts/other embedded content (Google Ads for example)

Seriously, WTF?

Friday was very un-productive due to outage.

This morning:

Ping statistics for 173.194.40.49:
Packets: Sent = 28, Received = 22, Lost = 6 (21% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 180ms, Maximum = 196ms, Average = 185ms

Have a company to run

So then MWEB can not say "International" browsing will be slow.... All Browsing will be slow (which actually means non existent)

Well I guess the term is used as a general description, the internet is a tangled web after all.

Dear MWEB Customer

The Seacom cable, which provides a significant portion of our international capacity, has been damaged off the coast of Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea.

Early indications are that it may take up to two weeks to repair the break and restore full capacity. We also have capacity on the WACS cable, which runs up the west coast of Africa, and this is currently able to meet about 45% of our total needs. As a result, most international services will be degraded. We are in ongoing discussions with various operators to secure additional capacity to meet our total requirements until such time as the Seacom cable is fully operational again.

We will keep you updated of any changes to this situation via the forums.

WOW.

Ok, time to go look for a new ISP. I'm DEFINATELY not sitting with this rubbish for two weeks...

How about you come to the damn party and give us two week's worth of credit?? I guess it's just too much to ask for, right?

FTFY :D

Dear MWEB - I don't get how a 5.12Tbps cable can not meet 100% of the requirements.
Is it not a bigger pipe than SEACOM 1280Gigabits ?
