MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Is it normal to get 1Mbps on MWEB 4Mbps Uncapped (not premium one)? I dad upgraded from 1Mbps to 4Mbps this past week and now the performance seems the same/worse.

Like the test would start off at 1.3Mbps and then drop to ~1Mbps:

Take note that my latency is just that high in Speedtest.net, so please just ignore it.

When I run the test with my Afrihost account I get 3.3Mbps on the same line.

So if the shaping is really that bad, then I'm just going to change to 2Mbps Uncapped Premium, because I had that and it worked very well.

What the hell is going on with mweb, I'm getting a ping of 1000 to local, and about the same / more for international... This has been happening every few nights and I'm getting sick of it. This has to stop and be fixed soon else whats the point?

I'd suggest that you try another ISP account, because when that happens, it is typically a congested DSLAM/exchange/core router, that is only under Telkom's control.
If the other account doesn't have that issue, then it is an MWEB issue, otherwise its Telkom.

Good Morning, please provide me your 4MB account details via private message.

Good Day, are you only getting the spikes in pings ingame or is all traffic being affected by high latency?

Hey Mweb Guy, Thanks for the quick reply. Well My latency is fine most of the time for days and then like every 2-3 days it will just go crazy at night, ranging from 300-1200 ping locally and about the same internationally or even higher. Funny enough it seems that web pages / VOIP / and youtube is not really affected, but gaming comes to a halt.

When it happens again, please provide me trace routes to mweb.co.za and bbc.co.uk. Also provide me speed test results and screenshots of your latency you are experiencing.

Pending on the results, I will involve our gaming team for testing from our side.

Every weekend its the same thing:

Done a port reset, powered off modem, reset etc. Can't even download from the MWEB Steam servers...Nothing suddenly changed overnight and yet I can't do squat today. You should be able to see my volume during the week as well.

Good Day Arzy, this looks like possible congestion.

Have you obtained comparative speed test results with the Telkom guest account?

Unfortunately yes, any suggestions on how to approach it with Telkom?

You need to gather the information first, including the results showing that even with the guest account you are obtaining degraded results.

Then call them and provide them your results, if that doesn't help. Try a Telkom store and go there with the information you have obtained from your testing.

Did the speed tests but they seemed fine, but all the gaming servers i play on Local and international range from 80-200 locally, and 400-1000 internationally.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2834048534.png - to local.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/2834053283.png - to international.

According to the latency checker in Teamspeak 3- I have been getting 200-1000, with about 0.50% packet loss. Same as last night, was fine like 30 min ago.

Good Day

Your trace routes show's a jump in latency on the 2nd hop. This would indicate that the problem may be closer to the remote end. Either the remote end itself, line or exchange.

What are the speed test results you are obtaining with the Telkom guest account?

Everything has become horribly slow, anyone else got problems?

Edit: Tested another account and same problem, pretty much everything has gone slow. I don't know how to determine what the problem is or do these tracer routes/what they even mean, unless its just telkom/everything is slow in my area? 1meg line
