MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Who is the cheapest out that list? I would imagine that MWeb manages their traffic closer to a fiscal scale than megabit scale.

The market sentiment has moved away from cheapest and towards value for money. People don't mind paying a premium for a premium product.

What MWEB did was advertise a premium product, milk consumers until it no longer remained profitable, and then reneged on promises and blamed their customer base.

That is downright unethical business. They attempted to increase revenue on false promises. It is absolutely despicable, and I personally don't see how anyone could ever trust them again.

Just check bwana's link from multiple threads. Just a few months ago they were publicly berating other ISPs for throttling, on the basis of it not being a truly uncapped offering.

Yet here we are. What a horrible bunch of lying scum. I'd rather pay a few bucks more each month to be sure that my ISP isn't going to screw me over like MWEB. I'd also pay a few bucks extra to not enable Naspers to continue fleecing its DSTV customer base, which I recently cancelled on principle. I'd also rather pay a few bucks more to be sure that my money plays no part in bribes committed in my name by the government, like it did with Dina Pule. Don't for a second think that that was private money. It wasn't. Nor was the amount she paid for trying to assassinate people. See recent news.

I'd also rather not pay money to a company that refuses to evolve to the ever increasing data usage of its customers, and instead accuses its own customers of abuse, even after admitting that data is becoming more accessible.

So the ultimate choice is yours: stay with MWEB who refuse to disclose parameters but happily call you an abuser. Or move.

It bears relevance that Naspers recently released fantastic results (financial), which they attribute to their significant growth in their adsl business and tencent.

So don't ever let them try to con you in to believing that their adsl margins are too low. All Derek is trying to do is maintain margins on a lower base. Because evidently he's absolutely clueless as how else to do it. Or he's an ignaramous, who is completely out of touch with modern life.

Either he pitched this incorrectly to the board, or he deserves to be discarded by the adsl community. One cannot break promise as fundamental as this. One cannot allow a brand to be so tarnished for a few short term bucks. Evidently he is way out of his depth.

Dear Derek. Resign, before the crowd force you to. Or redeem yourself, with a complete game-changer. The ball is in your court.

Or do you truly not care about the exodus...?

MWEB Guy is actually Steve from the FNB adverts.

"Hi, this is Steve from MWEB ISP. We heard you like downloading on our uncapped product, so how about we make it fair for everyone and throttle the crap out of you"
"But Steve, ****** ISP is cheaper than you, outlines their products specifically and offers exactly the same internet that you do!"
"Yes, but MWEB has a 30 day rolling window to make sure you get screwed throughout the month"
"But Steve, ****** ISP did away with that a long time ago!"
"I suppose you are right, where do I sign up?"

Just received an email to my personal account threatening to disclose my personal details and other supposed facts about me should I continue this "personal vendetta".

MWEB, please confirm if this is your doing, or something I should take to the police instead?

Lol. I doubt they would be so stupid. Must be a troll.

Just checking in but the story has not changed has it? Mweb Guy still refusing to release the limit but we seem to have deduced that is a 100GB right?

I try to look for the silver lining in every story and I found it in this one... I moved to a different ISP that has the same package as Mweb now has and it is R20 cheaper oh and they can tell me what the limits are...

Just emailed the cancellation form through. Officially I am leaving the sinking ship. :p

It won't sink. They'll keep the majority of their client base, consisting of email-checking moms and pops on capped accounts and those who don't come near any form of limit on uncapped. I'd hazard this was a move devised precisely to rid themselves of those with higher data consumption patterns. Ethical? Not really, but apparently quite effective. Not really surprising taking into account that the same company uses its grip on sport broadcasting to keep that multi-billion Rand bottom line on the up.

+1000 000

On "speedtest.net", i had a "high" download speed of +-0,19mbps...can you believe after my "throttle" today...

I wouldn't trust ookla, but that's another story. Rather, imho, use something that tests a single thread like testmy.net

PS: ive tried saix.net as well...basically the same
I'm on my "backup" account now at AXXESS....with my current 10mbps i get 8+ mbps...which seems correct
