MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

It won't sink. They'll keep the majority of their client base, consisting of email-checking moms and pops on capped accounts and those who don't come near any form of limit on uncapped. I'd hazard this was a move devised precisely to rid themselves of those with higher data consumption patterns. Ethical? Not really, but apparently quite effective. Not really surprising taking into account that the same company uses its grip on sport broadcasting to keep that multi-billion Rand bottom line on the up.

It's dead to me, so I rate it a sinking ship.
To be honest, I don't know if I will be throttled at the moment, but I'm not prepared to take that chance. My folks have twice the connection I do and use less data, they use mweb for their business Internet too based on my recommendation years ago. Well I'm informing them they should change isp to avoid the possibility of being unexpectedly throttled.
So as you can see, they are losing more than just '3% who abuse the network'....

Spread the word.

The only BAD thing is when you change ISP's, is if you hve an email address with them (especially if you have a business) which means they will have to change their email as well...or get "charged" leaving their email with Mweb ( dunno if mweb HAS this facility though )

Downgrade to a 1 GB capped account.

Oh, I'm sure of it, but I'd hazard it is them taking a calculated risk. They must figure that, once the dust has settled, their operation will be even more profitable as a whole. It is up to the consumer to decide whether that will indeed be the case.

I'll personally not use a NASPERS product or service ever again, and I've similarly dissuaded friends and families, but that stance precedes this little furore.

Lol, both folks have their own company domains with proper domain email addresses.
As for personal email I don't know why anyone would use anything other than Gmail.
If you have email with an isp I hope you see Gmail at the end of the tunnel. :)

They can go close their “Free the Web” campaign, it is totally hypocritical.

Mweb needs to provide an answer, their T&C’s (and all related policies) are against their marketing, not only this but the public relations are spouting BS. Time and time again Necuno have asked that most critical question to provide the parameters… No honest answer received, while the other players have published their product thresholds, this Mweb made clear is not true.

Please Mweb, compare you prior advertising and promotions with your current policy (amendments), variables and changes which should be known to the consumer. Not only do your policy prevent the probable advertised user experience, but you also lock them up in a 30-day cancellation period when they want to cancel within the 30-day rolling period or on principle, this is punishing the consumer.

Bad play mweb, screwing the consumer.

What i like about AXXESS....there you can get a "Prepaid"-account that you can use as a backup...AND get free email...(just a thought for guys hitting the "throttle" when they most use it for downloading WORK-stuff...@R29-00/Gig)

For personal e-mails, and this might be directed at all ADSL users, get a Micro web hosting package from Hetzner for R19 a month. Then get yourself a personalized domain and voila, you have 20 personalized email addresses for just R19 a month. It works great for both IMAP and POP3.
It very easy to maintain.
I have been doing this now for a good couple of years.

I don't use my M-Web e-mail address at all.

This is probably the first time I'm upset with something MWEB has done or said, since I signed up.

I used to be able to tell people that I'm with MWEB, and feel proud of that fact, even if they ask "But aren't you paying more than me?" - I can reply with "Yeah, but MWEB doesn't care how much I use, no throttling, no windows, nada."

I'll keep this in my signature for a week or so, but after that I'm going to have to find someone else to promote..

( I have not been given one of these warning mails, though I believe that if MWEB lose that 3%, I will be in the next 3%, or the one following that. Solidarity, brothers! )

 I have had enough, the reason I stayed with MWEB for this long was because I was paying for the Premium "no throttle" Uncapped service. Now I get an email to say I am going to be throttled. It is much cheaper to move to another ISP. Get an upgraded line speed (for the same price) and be throttled the same. Win for me.

Thanks for making my decision easier MWEB. I am outta here!

ps....oooo look Afrihost are doing upgrades!!!!!!! {wonders over for a gander}

I'm loving this ping! my ping was always since 4mb-2mb lines i had(2mb current) at least 40-55ms

i don't know what Mweb did but this has been my ping for the last month :D

I guess this is indeed their plan, that the 3% abusers will go and find another ISP to "abuse". As MWEB do not really lose anything except some "abusers" which they feel they could do without to increase capacity and quality of their network. Their new CEO is shrewd, I will give him that. But as I seem to be an "abuser" I best play ball and go "abuse" some other service. (Silly)

Morning, if he did not receive the email regarding the AUP; then he has nothing to worry about.

You guy's dont give a @## attitude towards this self created fiasco is quite astonishing. But it's fine, people will respond with their wallets
