MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

I seem to locked at 1Mbps speeds on my 4Mbps line. Tested the Telkom Test account and its faster then my Mweb account. I wonder if this is releated to having my line transfered to Mweb. Steam downloads are extremely slow.

Morning PurSpyk!!

Please can you PM me the speedtest results you are getting so that I can do a further investigation from our side.

Out of desparation I switched my router off, waited 30mins, restarted and it seems fine now. Odd I did this last night as well and the connection remained crap.

For the last two weeks or so my connection has been getting worse and worse. I use my internet mostly for gaming and found myself being disconnected several times. I am not one to complain too quickly, but this is getting bad. Especially since I want to try the new Medal of Honor out.

The reason I am posting this in the MWEB thread is because it seems that the problem is with MWEB, or that is how I interpret the figure down below.
I make use of a wireless service provider (CRC Networks) to connect because we cannot get fixed lines where we live. You will see that the wireless part is acceptable.

This is the path from me to a MWEB BF3 server.

Hi RaFi

Please can you send me via PM your MWEB email address or username so that I can look into this. Also, what games do you play online?

Morning StevenC

What online games do you play that you experience the lag on?

Currently just GW2 but I shall test with BF3 to see if local / international makes a difference. Basically the whole service for me feels degraded since the 15th in almost everything I do. Websites sometimes timeout or take a very long time to load, NNTP is slower than usual and GW2 which used to run fine has got to the point of ultra lag where actions take about 2 or 3 seconds to perform on a good day while events shoot up to 40 second to 1 minute delay, usually resulting in a disconnect if I am unlucky.

Edit: Updating Origin is sitting on about 60Kb/s.

Hi, just sent you a PM, but I see that the problem is "hopefully" now away. Don't know if it was with your help, I would like to think so:).

Will keep you posted.

After a bit of playtime today, the one dragon event I did was the best it has been in the past 2 weeks. Going to hit up some WvWvW later, will report back on that as well.

Awesome, hope everything stays this way :D

oka so torrents -> not starting, and NZB running tops at 16kB/s. . . it has been a long time since I have seen speeds like this:sick::erm:

*1 NZB file and its using the mweb news server

Good Afternoon, I had a look at your account and cannot find a fault there. Your attenuation is a bit on the high side though, please have Telkom recreate your port and please do a reboot.

LAG in Guild Wars 2 is quite high at the moment, though I can't really say if it is the GW2 servers or if it is on MWEB's side.
Are there any issues at the moment or is it just me?

Afternoon Qrox, no issues on the MWEB network at the moment...

Hi there

I have been with Mweb for a few months now and haven't had any problems up until about two weeks ago. Now, whenever I play world of warcraft, I get ridiculous latency spikes, so much so that it's pretty much unplayable. I really just want a stable latency. What can I do? I'm not sure whether the problem lies with Telkom or Mweb. I'm pretty sure the problem isn't on my side, I have checked that the only thing using bandwidth is wow when I'm playing. I'm on 1 meg uncapped.

Good Evening, please provide me your MWEB account details via private message and I will check your line.

Just some feedback, WvWvW was fine in GW2, even with zerg battles it never really got bad except for one spike, which may be attributed to my housemate checking email ^.^

Even NNTP has improved a little bit, 80KB/s (better than 40 or 0!).

Evening, thanks for the feedback Steven it is much appreciated :)

Aaaaaand back to cr@p again lol.

This time, I had my Windows 8 Resource Monitor open to find out wtf is going on. Throughput on Tequatl (same dragon from my earlier post) was running at 40KB/s with 220ms latency (2 connections, 1 for chat and 1 for game traffic). After fight I noticed a lot of connections running connecting to the same 2 IPs but with 370ms. At the moment it's back to 220ms.

All of that seems fine. Only thing that concerns me is that with all of the activity going on (lots of players) I would expect my traffic throughput to be higher. I know that with WoW at least, when I had a 384k line, when that maxed out at 40KB/s on my bandwidth meter I would experience similar lag (several seconds delay in action casting). The very fact that this is maxing out at 40KB/s now on my 1MB line indicates to me a shaping of some sort. A few guildmates on MWEB as well seem to be complaining of similar issues.

I am going to try the Leatrix Latency fix in the hopes that increasing the TCPack will alleviate some of the latency while waiting for this shaping mess to be sorted out (even though its being denied ^.^)

Thanks for the information, please do continue to keep me informed. I will provide your information to the Gaming team and see what we can come up with from our end.
