MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

People clearly do not know how the world works. Anyway I rest my case.

What is the use of a backup sytem, when nothing seems to work, cannot download email, can't downlaod Windows updates, cannot log onto Steam, this is really pathetic.

Hey MWEB,

I won't complain though, my Windows 8 Netflix App is running without any issues. However Google won't load

Hi All, we are currently having slow international Browsing & email due to a SEACOM link failure. We are running on alternative WACS capacity. We apologies for any inconvenience during this time. SEACOM engineers are working on restoring the link.

With the latest update we received, we hope to have most of the the International capacity back on again between 21h00 and 22h00 tonight.

Thank you for your patience during this time.

I cant even log onto the Seacom website to see the repair progress. Only in the good ol SA can companies get away with crap like this. Systems acan go down, but then have a decent backup system with the required bandwidth. Do we get compensated for the lack of service, no!!

The phrase "slow international browsing" is something of an understatement!

I'm getting 50% packet loss when trying to ping any international site. Due to the nature of TCP/IP, this means that packets are being continually resent, leading to gridlock.

I would be very happy to get a 'throttled' speed of 256Kbps. Instead MWeb seems to lump all users into a first-come-first-served pool, and as a result nobody gets any bandwidth.

Is this really a 1st-Tier network as claimed? All of the above posts seem to indicate that it isn't...

Edit: 100% back online just after 7pm.

A quote comes to mind reading all these complaints...

"Where the hell is -- I had a violin somewhere, I was gonna play it all sarcastically --goddammit, I saw it like a day ago. Blake! Violin!" - Jack

:D

It does indeed look to be coming back slowly, just had a few app updates pop-up on my pc all at the same time. No packet loss when pinging Int atm either.

Is it just me or since seacom came back online my latency has gone up about 80ms to international sites. Its usually 220ms.

Who's being agro?

Mweb are selling a service, if the service is unusable or down, a refund should be given. If the upstream provider they are using has an issue the onus is on them to sort it out with their provider and compensate users.

That's just the basic ethics of service delivery IMHO.

I appreciate the service I get from MWEB, but at the same time, I need, at the very least, to be able to get into my email and do basic things.

Agreed fully..

Yep, it seems that the seacom problem has been resolved.

Hi All

The SEACOM outage has been resolved and we are now running at full capacity as appose to the one third capacity we were running earlier on WACS. Service should slowly be returning back to normal.
We would like to apologize for the inconvenience that was caused.
