I tested your line and it is not syncing at 2Mb.

I have set it now to 2Mb, and I have recreated your port.

Allow 30 minutes to pass then restart your router and test

Thanks seems to be back to normal.:)

Update:
So just after I posted this, my Mweb uncapped speed went from 300kbps to 4Mbps again! So now I'm happy again - or at least for the time being that I'm getting full speed after hours.

My original post said:

This throttling is seriously outrageous!
I'm getting 300kbps on a 4Mbps connection (non-premium account) after midnight, after downloading just 50GB:

You have used 51.30 GB so far this month.
Last Session: 20 August, 2013, 19:59:32
Connection status: Throttled

Mweb 4Mbps uncapped (non-premium)
2267785358.png

vs WebAfrica prepaid:
Download Speed: 2846 kbps (355.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 405 kbps (50.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 238 ms << don't worry about latency - my MikroTik queues are messing with speedtest ping tests

If the 4Mbps premium uncapped wasn't so expensive and without throttling, I would've considered it. Currently the Afrihost 10Mbps uncapped is more affordable and without such throttling nonsense.

I would've understood it if you were throttled/shaped during peak/office hours, but being limited to almost 256kbps after midnight is just absurd.

I'm definitely going to cancel and move over to Afrihost, unless this can be sorted out within the next few days!

Kindly provide us these limits. You keep on saying keep withing the limits, but you forget to give us the limits.

If you need an example this might help:

Package: Uncapped 384kbps
6 hour limit in GB: 0.305
7 day limit in GB: 4.25

This will reset each 10 days.

ISPs that had rolling windows with clear limits: (Of course there is others who also had their limits clarified...)

Some of those "1.5TB" abusers:

IMHO I agree with DJ... and mweb should be boycotted as much as possible. They much like Microsoft with the xbox one wants you to just stomach it because it is good for you.

Mweb guy is the mweb news server down, can ping and tracert it ,even tried using the ip address instead of news.mweb.co.za,my Telkom one works fine

Hi schumi

We have no reported issues with our News server.

I've tested our news server and there is throughput.

Hi Mweb Guy.

1MB uncapped:

Results:
Download Speed: 365 kbps (45.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 439 kbps (54.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
8/21/2013 9:56:29 AM

This is a test to another ISP from the same PC.

Results:
Download Speed: 879 kbps (109.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 449 kbps (56.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
8/21/2013 9:58:58 AM

Is this normal or is there a problem with Mweb?

Forgot to ask, if I downgrade to 1GB today, does the change only happen from the 1st Sept? Or will I suddenly be on 1GB capped?

Hi bekdik

Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll look into it.

Also include the actual speed test result in the form of a link or screenshot.

Hi nihilist

Downgrades only take effect the 1st of every month.

bekdik, yeah me too. I'd post a speedtest but it won't finish, keeps getting stuck at the upstream test but as it is after 2 stuck tests..

4Meg Home "premium" "uncapped"
KZN server
8ms ping
0.62Mbps downstream
0.30Mbps upstream

Too busy and not really in the mood for drama now so I'll log a fault if it persists, the whole "we won't say what is abusive or how much you'll be throttled" thing just makes not me not trust MWEB as a company any more.

<rant>Surely, if there's a significant change in their AUP / T&Cs then they should bloody well have EMAILED ALL THEIR UNCAPPED CLIENTS - IN ADVANCE to notify them. I'm always transparent with my customers, if a job I'm going is going to cost R50 more or there's a delay or change I always phone and tell the client to get permission / discuss it. Honestly, discovering changes in a product you're using which would negatively affect you, via the posts on the internet is really pathetic.

I don't have issue with what they're doing, it's HOW they're doing it that's a upsetting.

Sorry, having a bad day and this kind of thing just yanks my chain.

my internet has been dropping muliple times a day for a few months now,can this get fixed please

Hi devdev666

In order for me to assist can you please provide me with your MWEB account details.

Dropped connections can be a result of a faulty router, filter/no filter or ADSL line etc.

Have you tested with the DSL cable plugged directly into the Telkom wall socket? Have you perhaps tried resetting ( not rebooting ) the router ?

Did you replace your filter or test the connection with a different router?

Just like taking one's car to the garage to have a rattle fixed!

I ran a test to get screen shot and instead got:

Results:
Download Speed: 940 kbps (117.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 430 kbps (53.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
8/21/2013 10:47:51 AM

My previous post was based on consistent low download speeds, some as low as 360Kbps over the last few days.

I'll keep monitoring and repost if it drops for a reasonable length of time. 940 I can live with.
