MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

uh, pingtest to Britain from Cape Town is:

158ms

Ping test to netherlands is:

250ms

Ping test to a germany (further away than netherlands) is 168ms.

is there something wrong with the routing right now on the Mweb service to Netherlands? Trying to get my quality gaming on but these 250-300ms is ruining the fun.

From what I understand, mweb has no control over routing in Europe. This is done via 3rd party networks like level 3.

Damn, if only I got R10 royalties for each time this was shared ;) hee hee.

It would be nice for MWebGuy to confirm the soft cap numbers are still fairly accurate?

Mweb Guy

I am on the 6 Meg uncapped Premium package and i have the mweb router.

I have setup a Western Digital MyCould EX2 NAS device on my network, which supports remote access via the internet so I can view my files and stream videos from any location.

Does Mweb allow me to enable port forwarding on this package.

Good afternoon fbman, yes you will be able to enable port forwarding on this account.

Hey Mweb guy, I am seriously considering your 4mbps Uncapped ADSL all inclusive account. Will this be enough for online play without lag on the latest games? Will I be able to stream without buffering?

Hi eljosco99

Yes, the 4MB speed should be ideal for Gaming plus we prioritise Gaming & streaming.

One can't provide a guaranteed experience on ADSL as there are many factors that come into play. You are more than welcome to sign up for a trial account and experience our Network.

Good morning, Icemanbrfc.

Tell me do you have an active adsl line already ?

If so PM me your contact number and I can then arrange a 7 day trial account for you to test with to see if it meets your requirements.

what is the threshold for streaming content on 2MB line on this uncapped account with Mweb? Im looking to stream at least between 4 to 8 hours a day give or take, depending on which days and so on. so 1 day could be a few hours, the next day longer as my son and wife watches their programming and so on.

so in total im only streaming in SD and looking at doing 100 to 150GB's for the month.

I have just replied to your PM with this info :)

yes thanks mweb guy.. However, question. if i go standard, and i reach 70GB's i take it that ill be throttled and my streaming content would be buffering like hell? lol

If you are in a throttled state then it is the speed of your entire connection that gets slowed down

when do you foresee the standard uncapped limit go up to at least 100GB's? 70GB's seem so like an odd number to get to?

To be honest, I have not heard anything about the threshold limits changing.

If this was to happen then we certainly let everyone know
