MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

No Joy, still cannot log into the game.

if anybody is an expert on trendnet routers, and knows how to do port forwarding for PS4 games, please let me know.

Everything working on my line, only gaming is not.

Ok, so a User on MyBB allowed me to use one of his test accounts, which was for Web Africa. And the moment I switched to that account, I was able to log into the games, and in Destiny do a patrol mission. Switched back to my MWEB login details, and gaming stops working again, and cannot log in at all.

To me, this points to the fact that the issue sits with Mweb, and not on my side. As I cannot see how logging in with another ISP can allow me to game (no other settings on the router was touched) but on Mweb I cannot game.

Can you post tracerts to www.mweb.co.za and www.bbc.co.uk? As well as pings.

Which other ADSL accounts can you test with for a prolonged period?

It's important to test for a prolonged period. An account change can temporarily alleviate line/Telkom issues.

I cannot use somebody else's account for a prolonged period of time. And I don't have any other accounts with data to test with ATM.

It still remains strange that the moment I use another ISP, gaming works, but not on MWEB. But Mweb is busy investigating. It may be a problem with the way my router communicates with them, or something else. Only time will tell. Just want to get this fixed. I miss my gaming. Been 5 days already

It was my 5 days of waiting while they 'investigated' that helped me cancel my uncapped account .... I feel your Mweb pain. Maybe grab a freebie 1gb account from WA or AH or CW or Axxess to game with until/if they fix your issue ;)

Yes, I saw your tracerts (which are very strange). I was referring to using an account for a prolonged period, perhaps my emphasis in bold did not show if you're browsing from your phone. It's something important that you'll need to do.

It has been sent to the gaming department to investigate though. So let's see if it gets sorted.

Can test again Feb with fnb account. But right now, will have to wait.

I just find it strange. But sure an answer will come up soon.

Fibre will also be in my house in the next 30 odd days. But can't wait that long to game

Yes, I've been following the happenings and have the latest. I've noted that you've tried getting free 1GB accounts from other ISPs, etc. It's still important to test for a prolonged period with another account though.

Truly bizarre if it is an MWEB issue (Optinet = MWEB), because struggling with gaming (or anything really) is unheard of, as anyone would attest to, really.

When you do tracerts, particularly local ones to MWEB, are you always experiencing latency on the 4th hop (160.po-channel50...)? Strange how there is no latency here when tracing BBC.

I would love to know what the issue is. Perhaps an intermittent fault on the '160.po-channel50...' equipment.

But again, it's important to test for a prolonged period with another ISP, because a simple reconnect to a new account can temporarily alleviate line/Telkom issues.

Has anyone else experiencing buffering problems when streaming from apple tv or live streaming (Netflix/Hulu). It is more prevalent at night from about 18:00pm onwards. During the day it seamless streaming.

I have a 4 mb line and my speed when checked at night is about 3.4mb. I restart modem ,PC and issue remains.
What else should I be checking?(any suggestions)
I've had good service from Mweb the last 6 months with regards streaming so I defiantly know there is something is not 100% right.

That is purely capacity. A few ISP's are having the same issue since VOD seems to have take off big time. BEtween 18:00 and 21:00 is when most people will be streaming.

I don't think it's MWEB. I don't use Netflix or Hulu but my streaming is 100% always. So will wait to hear from others who do. Note that there have been zero complaints.

I think you're just missing MWEB and trying to justify your move and poor streaming performance. :p

I don't use apple tv. But I can confirm that I have zero problems streaming netflix on both my PS4 and PS3 (and I am having line issues related to gaming)

Twitch streaming depends on the number of viewers, if there are almost no viewers, then I struggle, if there are a lot, then it is fine.

That would be because fewer viewers means streams broadcast in source quality. As soon as there are 100 - 150 (I think) the quality button is added.

Wish I could give you answers to your questions, but I don't know enough about these things to actually answer

In your dreams. At least I get full line speed on torrents during business hrs and last night I was streaming Netflix at 1080P HD after 9pm. AND, I can play the one and only game I play online, whereas with MWEB it became impossible. That was the main reason for leaving, I have invested 4 years in that game, MWEB changed something, which they deny, and I couldnt play anymore. No matter how I pleaded and hours we sat with their "specialists", they couldnt resolve it. With my current ISP the game is there at a click of a button.

The game is War Commander, there are other Saffers dont know Which ISP though.
