I'm curious to see who has had the longest period of being throttled by this horrible company. So far I'm sitting on 6 consecutive days so tomorrow will be a whole week of substandard internet.

thank goodness I've already confirmed my cancelation for the end of October.

If you haven't done, mail cancellations@mweb.co.za and request a downgrade of your account to the R29 1MB package, then get yourself a new ISP by1 October. Make sure that you DO NOT use the new Mweb package, as, if you exceed 1MB you will be slammed with OOB charges.

No point in paying Mweb more than absolutely necessary.

Will my email still work after the downgrade to 1gb for R29?

Yes it would BUT.............. who in heavens still use a ISP dependant e-mail. Register @ live.com or even gmail for goodness sake! You can add your ISP mails and others to the accounts list.

Good description of mweb's limits (from their FB):

"How best to describe MWEB's "limits" when it comes to throttling: Its like having a "no speeding" sign, with no limit, and when I get pulled over and handed a ticket, the cop WONT tell me what the limit is, so I can avoid a fine in future.."

My apologies, seems I was mislead by the friend which I am "throttling" as I type this. Unfortunately it still hasn't changed my view on Mweb itself. Still a poor excuse for a company.

So I just heard from a friend of a friend that the reason he was unthrottled (after 1 day of being throttled) was because he upgraded his account. Mweb I would call that pure blackmail on your part. Making a customer fork out more money in exchange for unthrottling the account. I think everyone would agree with me here in voting Mweb as the worst company of the year.

(How long will it be till he is throttled on that account and must upgrade once again to be unthrottled?)

Its funny. Got a call from mweb before the 15th asking if I want to upgrade my package. After I said no. The Sunday 15th was throttled . Only now , the 21st has my line gotten back to normal. Little to late.

Sent my cancelation form off on the 15h. Still waiting for a reply though.

I got my reply with the cancellation department the very next day after I faxed it through on the 16th.

I sent in an email once again and hopefully this time it can be sorted because I do not want to go through another month of this bs, it's been 7 days now since I had any proper use of my line and I do not wish to pay another month to this greedy company which clearly doesn't care about its customers.

Never expected this from Mweb, they helped pioneer lowering uncapped costs and refused to throttle or aggressively shape like IS. Now? Now they're only looking out for themselves, and in an ironic twist, burying themselves in the process.

A business account being throttled?? That's just wrong!!! Go with Afrihost, unshaped and unthrottled business accounts

Shows that the normal, premium and business was actually the same thing re-branded behind the scenes? Of course mr pajamas would like you to think its actually a different product ?

Also it doesn't make sense then when mweb tells you to "upgrade" if you get throttled.
