MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

So what is needed is a bar that shows how close you are to being subjected to throttled to X point (where X is expressed as a percentage or new "line speed") and if it is gradients moving it on that basis.

That's what I meant, indicating what speed the line is going to be dropped to would be good as well.

it would be good, but lets not bank on it for now. I think MWEB need a bloody nose before they come to the party

Mweb Guy

I recently upgraded from 1meg to 2meg (belive it was 19 Aug) happened to be throttled on the 2nd of this month. Want to find out if the rolling window is from the 19 of Aug or is it from the 1st of this month?

Sending this MSG from a trial acc from another ISP as my "Uncapped" is rather useless atm. Havent used very little last 3 days when i can expect improvement?

Hi CarterSA

You changed over to the Standard 2MB package.

Please look into your usage patterns since you change over to the Throttled account.

Please be advised that the Standard packages has not been designed for downloading as per the package info.

And the throttling is awful.. barely usable for 1 pc and the whole house hold uses this connection. How do I get back on my old package asap.. untill I have found new ISP

Hi CarterSA

I'll arrange for you to be contacted regarding your upgrade request.

Why does MWeb refuse to give the indication when the account will be throttled? Is it technically not possible?

Would it not be better to educate your customers, for all to get a feeling on what would be abusive usage?

Now it rather feels like a punishment, its just not only the previous "abusers" who are punished, each and every customer who would like to use the internet for complete entertainment is.

does someone have a link for a site explaining the effects of this 30 day rolling window? google did not produce good results ;)

Hi bekdik

The ADSL TAB does provide a breakdown of the usage for the day and month.

"You will be throttled if you reach yy GB." - Here you are asking for threshold.

From one of your previous posts:
The limits are based on a rolling average and are recalculated daily.
If you do find yourself limited, the less data you
use, the sooner your speeds will return to normal.

i asked for the these items as you are throttling over an average for some unspecified period up to some unspecified limit.

So I have no idea of what I'm buying from you.

Would Mweb walk into a pub, pay for a 'tankard of beer' without having any idea as to whether the tankard was 1L or 1mL? I think not.

As another loyal Mweb user, I think it's time to move on to another supplier where I know what I have purchased. Playing some kind of childish guessing game just isn't what I want.

MS: If you want to use the xbox one, then you have to be connected 24.7, or check in every 24 hrs.
MS: This will be awesome for you!

Joe: What if I don't have a connection?
MS: Then buy the [old] xbox 360
Joe: WTF!

* Joe and others rants on and on *

MS: Oh ****! Oh ****! Oh ****!

* MS changed xbox one policy *

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Mweb: We are going to throttle you when you abuse our network
Joe: So what is the limit?

Mweb: Its when you used to much!
Joe: So what is too much?

Mweb: Its abusive behavior :)
Mweb: This will be good for you :D

Joe: wtf!

* some of Joe start to boycott, but not enough *

Mweb: You know... you can always upgrade to business!
Mweb: If the throttled account is not good go business!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Now this is quite simple:
Mweb is a player and players are only stopped if enough helps it along. Skelms are skelms and clearly nothing has really changed since the big black box rip off...

... not much difference between MS who tried to stuff it because they are MS and Mweb trying their luck be cause they are Mweb.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT THE PREMIUM PACKAGE ARE ALSO NOT SUITABLE FOR DOWNLOADING. Therefore I left Mweb for good after many many years of being a loyal customer with 4M premium account. Then they became greedy and stupid.

Even the Business packages will be throttled if you download to much according the unknown laws and ridiculous AUP's of Mweb.

THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ANYTHING IS BY MOVING TO AND ISP WITH COMMON SENSE AND DECENCY.

STAY AWAY FROM MWEB. Vote with your purse.

MWEB went from HERO to ZERO in no time!

wait can somebody confirm: are customers being "upgraded" by MWEB from a premium product to a standard product?

MWEB Guy

That obviously should be the case but the following from CarterSA suggests that you have had customers "upgraded" from premium to standard (the 1 meg being only available on premium):

Its actually a downgrade but thanx.

Obviously before looking deeply into the matter I want some confirmation that it (a) happened and (b) was not an error that is acknowledged and rectified.
Especially if consideration is given to people being "downgraded" such that they are hit with an OOB attack.

Hi CarterSA

You changed over to the Standard 2MB package.
- - which is why I am asking

I can foresee an honest mistake arising but it would be the high water mark of recent MWEB dealings to migrate a client from premium to standard and call it an unqualified "upgrade"

That's the problem. You have no idea when it's going to happen and when you find out it's too late.

I think if I was downloading too much, I would have been notified already. I am using 4mbps

Hi Paul Hjul

You reading into " I recently upgraded from 1meg to 2meg "

As you are aware there is Uncapped 2MB Premium and Uncapped 2MB standard.

So there was no mention to the specific 1MB or 2MB account packages.
