MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

So I came here asking for help about the Twitch.tv streaming issues I have been having, I get asked if the issues are still on going so I reply and then I get ignored.

Then today I have issues where I am getting lag on Low quality. I understand there will be shaping and whatnot but I have a 4mb account with a 6mb account and I can barely watch on the lowest quality setting? Surely something is wrong.

You are talking crap again. How does 25GB push ANY speed into throttle territory? The file would have to be 100GB at least.

Qrox, what is your 30 day threshold sitting at?
I said it will push a lot of people over the throttle threshold.
That does not mean all people. But if you look at the average user, the extra 25gb will be a big hit on a very slim line between throttled and unthrottled. Most people showing average monthly use that equals more than 50gb will almost definately fall into the throttle window with an extra 25gb added to their monthly use.... Hell do you actually read posts before commenting?

:wtf: 30 day rolling window, you seriously believe that so many people that are already close to the throttle window will not go over it with a whopping extra 25gb added plus the almost 100% certain game day release 5gb update? The only way your system works is if you have a very smooth 3.3gb per day download, the moment you go over that you can and will hit the throttle window now minus 25gb from that and you are reduced to a 2.5gb per day limit to stay within that 30 day rolling threshold. :erm: This is a big download something not normal... Seriously do you work for Mweb?

219.27 GB for past 30 days. A lot of games came out recently so that didn't really help to keep my usage low.
This is on 2Mbps line

My comment above was for a 1mbps line with your downloads your are definately not on one so please ignore. :)

So I'm into day 9 of throttling. Will I experience normal service before the end of the month. I doubt

I'd say that the issue of an additional 25GB pushing some users over the threshold is the key issue here -- it puts us back into the old days of capped accounts. When you had a 1GB monthly cap, you had to carefully decide what to download, when to donwload it, etc. You had a limit you were conscious of. The same now applies. Before I can download the 25GB game, I need to look at what I've downloaded and when, I need to check the total I've used on my UNCAPPED account, and then decide WHEN to download the game. That's completely contrary to the concept of an uncapped account. I understand that the account is not TERMINATED after reaching the threshold, but it is throttled, which means that you will be subjected to a deliberatley degraded service.

MWEB uncapped is now MWEB with an undisclosed soft-cap.

The irony of this advert is not lost on me at least
Hi SHVAK

Gaming gets high priority on our Network.

When speeding limiting kicks in, then the speeds won't be the same but when not speed limited Gaming experience will be good.

EDIT: The size of the download will not be a problem at all for 1Mbps customers , unless you are already very close to the threshold.

This has been asked and answered by Mwebguy guy in one of the throttling threads where he clearly states you would have to look at your downloads to see if it would impact. Unfortunately he refused to give the figure which we have all by now worked out is 100gb in a 30 day rolling threshold for the 1mbps line. It should not be rocket science to work out what it is in other line sppeds and products. The only reason it is not mentioned is (and this is only my belief) they will change it later to be either more or less depending on customer loss or retention. If they lose too many people they will up the threshold.

Hey there, My internet does not seem to work, since around 6pm. I kept on getting drops and now it wont sync up, i am not sure if this is telkom or mwebs fault?

Please help.

Seems to be 105gb or so over the past 30 days causes throttling on a 1mb.

And so I've been throttled for the first time since this useless AUP has been implemented. Since its been implemented I have not once been able to tell that the network speeds have improved (they actually slowed down).
Being throttled by using the internet like I normally do and I haven't even been able to begin downloading the BF4 client that should come out this afternoon or tonight (24GB) is a real disappointment.

As such, I'll be cancelling my account with Mweb later today or early tomorrow.

EDIT: for those of you wondering. When you are throttled the connection is so slow that Google doesn't want to load or search anything. Really disappointed with Mweb.

You should cancel ASAP, otherwise you will be paying until end of December!

What was your usage?

222GB. Usually I average about 150-165GB but this month a lot of new games came out. A bunch of big patches, Windows 8.1, etc, so it pushed my usage way up.

Is that what your 30 day average is?

2mb Account?

I feel with these throttling restrictions, MWEB should now allow us more than one concurrent connection to the account, specifically the Premium accounts. Its not like we will be able to "abuse the line" ;)

MWEB Guy? What do you think? fair enough?
