MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

@MWEB Guy

Thank you - my throttled status has been lifted.

Am I right in saying that you pay in advance with Mweb?

In October I was on 4mbps premium @ R899 per month. Starting from 1 November I am on the 2mbps Standard. Should my payment at the end of October be for November's service i.e. R449? I paid R899.

I'm still being throttled since the 30th of last month??! What do you guys think of that? :/ and today it's the 5th and my Internet is useless!!

Afternoon GreatD7007

I checked the account and the system reflects that the limiting will be lifted in approximately 1-2 days, depending on the usage going forward.

But Mweb Guy you told me that 4 days ago :( This is how you treat your customers. I'm trying to understand and be patient but come on this has been going on for too long

I am going to have your account investigated as a result of this. Once I have the information, I will let you know.

You have been marked. Look in the mirror and tell me what's written on your forehead. If it says "ABUSER" then do yourself a favour by cancelling your *****ty MWEB account and move to another ISP.

We haven't seen the true form of Derek's widely hated Abuse of Use policy yet. When the Telkom upgrades kick in, it will transform into something so ugly and purely evil you would want to take your eyes out with your bare hands if you saw it in your mind.

I though you already have done that? How can you respond without investigating in the first place?

Exactly!! I can't believe this, @Mweb Guy please get back to me with the outcome. Being throttled for this long is absurd

Which ISP are you with at the moment??

What negativity? MWeb is a subsidiary of Naspers so until the year end financial figures you won't see the financial impact of MWeb's throttling decisions. It might even be in there favour if the company was running at a loss.

The PR negativity and discontent expressed online. Why would they want a subsidiary to run at a loss?

They wouldn't but if certain customers of said company are causing it to run at a loss wouldn't the company be better off without those customers.

True. And that's the cost-benefit analysis they've probably done. When 3% of customers are using 25% of the bandwidth, it's a better business decision to strictly enforce the AUP, potentially alienating those 3% of users and a few others, but ensuring the other 97% are happy, as their experience can only improve.

But after the top 3% have left there is another 3% albeit at a enforced lower level. We see that in the recent continued complaints that never end.

Time for Fudzy to read on the internet about shilling!

Time for you to move on, I'm tired of having to defend myself to the likes of yourself. If you've failed to comprehend any of my previous posts on this matter I would suggest going back to school alternatively go find somewhere else to troll.

Another 3% might replace them, etc. for a while, but I can't see that trend continuing forever. A few days ago MWEB Guy said that 0.5% of users were throttled in the last two weeks. That's a small number.

Fudzy's tried other ISPs and returned to MWEB, so he's in a position to speak from experience. Anyone who doesn't like the throttling policy is welcome to leave MWEB, as some have done. We can debate the merits of it here forever. We can plead forever for the thresholds to be made available.

Either way, for the 97% to 99.5% of us not constantly backing up the Internet locally, it doesn't make much difference ;)

And so the next 3% is born, we all know mweb is keeping the limits/throttling a secret just for this.

Yes you are right. I doubt your numbers through and believing what Mweb Guy says, well if that is your source then...
But I would hazard a guess that the number is relatively low at this stage but definately not as low as 0.5 of their customer base which is 350 customers. If only 350 customers can cripple your infrastructure then boy are you in trouble. Also Mweb Guy himself has pointed out those that have exited from Mweb have impacted negatively on other ISPs which again would indicate the number is alot higher than 0.5%
