MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Hi Mwebguy,
So yesterday after a month i received my Fon router, not to happy about paying for the entire month and only going to use it 4 days :-/
But in any case, setup was quite easy, just plugged it in, after half an hour the Mweb landing page disappeared and everything worked. i was quite surprised the range it picks up, the whole house has signal and even worked at my parents house next to mine, speed was also fantastic, i have been a AH customer for years, and i can only speak for one day this far, but the Mweb account did not disappoint at all. (AH really p1ssed me of the last 2 months, was being throttled without downloading a single MB)
i have 2 questions though,
1. I want to upgrade my DSL account to 4mb, how do i do this?, will i just get charged the extra R40, or will i have to wait a month?
2.Can i use any extender?, when will the extenders Mweb still owes us be delivered?, and can the make and model of those extenders please be posted here?, i want to buy an additional 2.

Hi Lament, Good to hear your experience has been good thus far.

1: If you wish to upgrade to the 4Mb account all you need top do is let me know if you want to upgrade to the 4mb standard or premium account.

2: I will need to find out if you can use any extender.

We have not received our new batch of extenders yet, we send them out as soon as we receive them

Just the normal (standard) 4mb account will be fine, must i PM you, or do you still have my details?, and i only want it upgraded from next month please, no use in me doing it this month.

I will arrange for you to be contacted with regards to your upgrade.

I will find out and get back to you about the extenders

Hi Lament

You will not be able to use any extender to connect to the fon router.

Also you will only be able to use 1 extender to connct to the router

Last night seemed fine-ish after I rebooted. Today I ran speed tests on both accounts and it just seems to shoot all over the show with different pings and results to Cape Town

Is this a Telkom problem -again-? Months and months back and forth between mweb and telkom and just no one seems to fix this problem. I even bought a new router but the problem persists.

Hi Eliphas, provide me with a trace route to a local and international site and I will escalate this to our specialists to investigate.

I have tested your line and I see that the signal strength is extremely low and your attennuation i very high.

As your line is directly with telkom, I suggest you call them on 10210 to investigate.

I'm unable to connect to a work VPN but have no issues using my previous modem.

Do you have any idea how I can troubleshoot this?
 
Anyone know at around how much bandwidth done I will start being throttled on standard uncapped?

Hi Skandalis.

We do not block any ports and you should be able to make use of VPN connections.

VPN connections are unfortunately outside our scope of support.
 
Can anyone with Mweb 10MB Premium please do an international speed test on speedtest.mybroadband.co.za? I'm on Afrihost's 10MB Business package and have never seen more than 4MB international.

Hi Dade Murphy

The treshold differs depending on what speed account you have.

if I am not mistaken you are on the 2Mb standard uncapped account and the threshold on that account is around 70Gb in a 30 day rolling window.
 
When the threshold is reached will I still be throttled outside of business hours?

And what type of speed can I expect?

Your account will remain throttled until your usage in the 30 day rolling window falls below the threshold
