MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

No Mweb Guy no contact from your technical team. Telkom sent a technician out for the line didn't find anything.
Everything was running fine till just after 19:30 when lagg on online gaming became unbearable

Hi Vl@d

I team who liaises with Telkom is still in communication with them and will provide you with an update as soon as Telkom send feedback.

I see they were working on it.

I'm not able to even open the www.youtube.com website all of a sudden. What is wrong MWeb?

Working perfectly from my Cellphone using Afrihost APN on my MTN Sim.

I have tested this and I am able to access it without any trouble.

Are you now able to access it ?

Good day Mweb Guy,
Work day 8 since my telkom call was logged. Any feedback as yet?

I am currently on 4meg premium uncapped and use it only for video streaming via XBMC mostly and use about 100GB per month. How will downgrading to normal 4meg uncapped influence this experience? (I don't do any other downloads, only very basic browsing)

Looks like I can save myself a few bucks if this downgrade won't impact my experience to badly, or even consider 6MB uncapped for HD streaming in future.

Hi there is no difference between the way the standard and premium accounts works, it is just the threshold that is different.

the 4mb standard account's threshold is around 110Gb in a 30 day rolling window.

Yeah I saw this table posted somewhere and thus the reason why I started thinking...

Awesome, then I should definately go down to the standard account. Easiest way to do this?

Hi Mweb Guy.

Lightning has broke the new Fon router I got from Mweb just 2 weeks ago. Is there any way to get it repaired or replaced, and at what cost?

Cheapest replacement is Gumtree ... R300 - R400

MWEB has inadvertently started a good a trade in routers .....

I thought the router had to be returned if you cancel? Besides, I also thought all of the routers were 'hard' wired with your own specific account details?

Pleasure :)

I moved from the 1mbps uncapped to the 2mbps standard and and am now considering the 4mbps standard, less for the speed and more for the increased soft cap. It really boils down to your monthly usage.

ITWeb reported yesterday:

IP Connect cuts trickle through

By Bonnie Tubbs, ITWeb telecoms editor.
Johannesburg, 2 Apr 2014

Derek Hershaw, CEO of one of SA's largest ISPs, MWeb ISP, says the company has made a few changes aimed at delivering more value to its customers, as well as an improved online experience.

"We have adjusted pricing, and allocated additional data at the same price on selected capped products. On our uncapped product range, we have been adjusting the usage thresholds in terms of our acceptable use policy, allowing more capacity for uncapped customers and ultimately an improved experience."

Is it possible to give us some real numbers about what the new soft caps will be on the "Uncapped" products from Mweb?

Or is it just more vague marketing promises, like the promises we are used to in the political arena.

Why call it Standard uncapped then? Surely you should call it Standard 110GB.

Even if the account gets throttled, then there is still throughput on the account, even though it is at a slower speed.
