If you guys want to know why the internet has been sucking these last few days and will continue for quite a while yet you can read about the 512K router bug. Basically old routers don't have enough memory to know where to route certain traffic using the BGP tables. Sort of like the map of the internet is too big now. http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/08/internet-routers-hitting-512k-limit-some-become-unreliable/

It's been known for a while but I guess IT managers don't really take things engineers say too seriously.

I just requested a new connection from Mweb in an area were adsl is available. Also I was brought under the impression that activation takes 1 day max they now tell me it's 10 working days...???? What gives? 10 days I can not work? You gotta be kidding me ...

Anybody knows if other ISPs are more on the ball?

Hi longtom

By the sound of things, you applied for the line as well. The reason for the up to 10 working days is because we wait for confirmation from Telkom. They let us know when the line is active.

Data Only packages are available immediately, once signed up.

Yes - I hear you and understand.. Maybe it should be made clear (or at least mentioned) on your website and also by your sales consultants so no nasty surprises pop up which surely can only be bad for both sides.

Hi BigBear

Thank for the feedback.

Should I have our team who liaises with Tellkom close the line fault?

Anything wrong at the moment? my connection keeps dropping while trying to play games online. it starts to lag then drops. ive called mweb before 10PM and they assured me it was a fault with my ISP and i need my ports to be recreated. So i called Telkom, the lady said we dont see any faults on our side but she recreated my ports anyway.

Now, i restarted my router and the same issue persists. Please can i have a more accurate response than "its a problem with telkom"

Really frustrating feeling mweb call centre just giving me a shut up answer seeing it was 10 minutes till the end of the day, who wants to work anyway!? rite?

99% a line/equipment fault. Could be your router. Please post results of below tests.

I see now the 10MB uncapped standard is R539, and 4MB premium is also R539. Why should I get the 4MB premium instead of the 10MB, does one get allocated more gigs on the 4MB premium than the 10MB standard.

How many gigs can you do on the 10MB uncapped standard before you get throttled.

10Mbps Standard - 250GB
4Mbps Premium - 400GB

Hi nakedhousee

Is this happening with a specific game? How is general browsing in this time? How is gaming and the connection prior to 10pm at night?

The thread shows 2 to 3 clients experiencing this problem and not having the same experience either.

Its hard to ascertain, cause the problem was only reported here and we were also not able to replicate it at all.

MWEB Guy - I am also having the issue. have you managed to resolve this issue.

Afternoon, the problem is not on the website.

Perhaps try running malwarebytes and let me know if the problem persists thereafter.

Hi Mweb Guy,

I'm battling to resolve an issue with your fon routers.

Last week Monday evening when i got home from work i noticed that my internet was down.
After restarting the router i tried switching it off for a few minutes, that did not help either.
Then i tried to reset the via the reset pinhole button on the router..... after about 10 minutes i checked and it still had no connection.

I logged into the router and discovered that it could not connect with the default [email protected] details. I then re-entered my account details and tried connecting again. I then received an error message - concentrator not reachable.

Then i called Mweb, spent about an hour on the phone, reset the router as per instruction a few times and still no luck.
then my phone cut out while i was on hold, i then loaded up some more airtime and got my ADSL port recreated.

I tried connecting with my FON router during the week as well as tried to reset the port a few times.

I then logged a ticket with your tech department, and about a day or 2 later i called Mweb again from the office one afternoon.
I was told the router would be swapped out. Yesterday a courier brought my new router and last night when i got home i plugged in my new router.

By just pluggin it in it did not connect, i gave it about 40min, so i used the reset option but it still could not connect.

Then i logged in and saw that it had the concentrator not reachable error.
I then replaced the [email protected] details with my account details and then tried to connect again. again the error.

So this morning i brought my original Mweb fon router to the office, incase the courier comes to pick it up today, i decided that i would go and test it on our office's ADSL line.

At first i just plugged it in and let it do its own thing for a while, nothing. (copied the logs for my ticket)
Then i used the reset pinhole button and waited for it to setup.... and it did.

Why would it connect at on my office line and not my home line?
Any idea what causes this issue?

Good Day Tydmors

Please note that I am not aware of [email protected] being a default username.

*Edit: Confirmed with technical team that the [email protected] is the default username for the FON router. This is when the router and our back end communicates and verifies details.

Provide me your MWEB account details via private message and I will ensure you receive the assistance you require.

You won't be able to connect with those details though.

I wait on your DM.
