MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Hi all,
So I'm on an MWEB 2Mb premium uncapped ADSL line.
My line speed is just fine, with max around 200KB/s download.
I want to watch twitch.tv streams but when accessing that site in particular my download speed drops to 30-40KB/s which is useless.
The last time I called in to mweb and asked about it they said that streaming gets priorety so that shouldn't be happening, I called in again today and was told the same again, until they realised they can't resolve the problem and went to double check, to find that streaming is not a priorety.

So at this point I'm quite confused, is streaming from twitch.tv supposed to be heavily shaped as it currently is for me, or not?

Hi Guys

I just received some feedback, it seems there was a short dip in connectivity last night but it did not last long.

I checked your account from my side and everything seems ok, I cannot see any issue there.
I also checked the line, the readings it self look good too.

That's what I'm saying, line stats are great, tracert is great, I'm not throttled, yet this is my last speed tests with MWEB and my other account.

I wasn't able to view your second attachment.
Are the speeds just as bad on the other account?
Also, what sort of speeds do you get when testing with the guest account?
If it is just a bad, you may need to take it up with Telkom as issue seems to be the same across 2 different networks.

Test done with MWEB - 343kB/s
Test done with test account - 1.07MB/s

Hi Soul Assassin

I understand that the speeds is slower with the MWEB account however you also posted slower speeds that you should be getting with the Telkom test account.

You need to have Telkom address the line issue.

How exactly are you figuring that, I'm getting 1070kB/s on a 10Mbps line, isn't that what I should be getting?

Hi Smilyface

Twitch has always been prone to buffering and this is a well known factor in the Gaming community and especially when there is large events.

Twitch on our Network is classified as video streaming and therefore receives high priority.

Please provide me with your MWEB email address and I'll listen to the calls between yourself and the consultant.

Post the pic using the Telkom account which never attached correctly when you tried earlier.

The erraticness of the MWEB test already points to a line fault.

Hi Soul Assassin

I have arranged for a technical specialist to call you this evening between 17h00 & 18h00

Ref: 1534734

Can't you just reauthorize my account, since we have clearly seen now it's not my line.

Thanks MWEB the speed is back to normal, I don't know if you guys did something or if it was just one of those anomalies.

Excellent service, if I can just give one note, I had to explain the line stats to him, he thought it was a line fault and told me that my attenuation was really low. I had to explain that attenuation was the distance, lower is better, and SNR was "line quality", higher is better.

Other than that great service.
