Evening, sounds like you've signed up for the standard package.

The 4MB premium shaped has a threshold of approximately 400GB (which is based on down data only).

Perhaps a change in package is whats needed..

1st off, I have been on this same package for about 4 years now without issue. A few years ago, I downloaded in excess of a TB in order to see what the threshold is. I was never shaped or throttled in any way. Your bosses must be getting greedy, not enough bandwidth to go around as you are oversubscribed now you want more money buy getting me on a more expensive package.

It is strange how I am being throttled @ 124GB when you say that it only takes place @ 400GB. If anyone would like to know which it is, I can confirm that I am being throttled at 124GB so expect the same, dont buy into these "400GB" lies.

I am only being pragmatic when I say, that there really is absolutely no reason to get a "uncapped" account anymore, as you now need a premium uncapped account to gain any more benefit than you would if you just used that same amount of money to buy a capped account and get more than 124GB out of it. I realize you clowns probably have the right to change the usage policy as you stumble along, but this isnt what I had signed up for.

This is a complete and utter FARCE.

If you are being throttled using the premium package, then you need to understand why.

Throttling is based upon a 30 day rolling window and the usage is not reset at the end or every month.

By the sounds of things, you've managed to move 124GB in 6days? This months usage only?

Today the system takes into consideration the usage from 2014/10/05 to 2014/09/06, tomorrow it will be based on: 2014/10/06 to 2014/09/07

Oh jesus, the PREMIUM package is 400gb lol, I thought that was the standard package.

Have these people worked out that capped accounts give you more data for less money than this package that comes with more asterisks and disclaimers than a government official's security upgrade.

The 400GB threshold imposed on the Premium package is more than reasonable.

Remember I am advising you without your account details.

Well if I am being throttled at 124GB (throttling starts at 110GB) it is obvious that I am on the standard package. The fact that I have not changed accounts for years and have had no problems with my usage requirements means that something has to have changed. I could quite simply go get a capped account for less than R239/pm and get the exact same amount of data, the difference being, that it will be a hell of a lot better contention ratio being a capped account, what then I ask, is the point of the pseudo capped account that I am currently on? shaping a 4Mb line to a 384 is taking me back 10 years.

This draconian form of shaping means that, if I am on the edge of being shaped, I am unable to use the account for any form of online gaming as your throttling package could kick in at any point in the month, where as a capped will be fine until the end of the month, or whenever it does run out it gets sorted out without having to wait a day only to have you lag out in your next game.

tl dr;

1) You throttle hard now, more so than a few years ago.
2) This is because you have more subscribers sharing the same amount of pie so everyone gets a smaller slice.
3) Rolling throttling sucks hard, harder than a monthly one due to the aforementioned reasons.

I want out now, but your friendly telesales people say that I need to make another payment to you at the end of this month. So that means I pay for an additional month, in which I am unable to do anything on the account (I know that one days usage becomes unlocked everyday, but I cannot handle being given one smarty a day for a month thanks). As a long time subscriber I dont suppose you'll let me leave now? I dont want to waste another months fees on this anymore thanks.

We have not been offering the standard package for more than a year.

The standard packages were developed as our clients wanted cheaper alternatives to our Premium shaped packages.

We only started offering them last year.

Your usage must've changed.

Then you should get a shaped account.

Throttling is a much better way of enforcing an AUP than shaping.

I see absolutely no difference between your standard "uncapped" vs a capped account. in terms of Rand per GB it is virtually identical.

Alright, so if you decide to revise your packages again, lets say for arguments sake you change the threshold to 10GB because you have such a saturated package, do I need to pay you a months notice to only get 10GB? Surely that connot be fair, to force a person to pay for a revised package.

All I am asking for is for you to cancel my account now, pay you a pro rata for the (nothing) I have used this month and go our separate ways.

All our packages are subject to the calender month notice period.

We always sold the standard package with the throttling imposed on them.

I still have a problem with connecting my Mweb Range Extender. The wireless light never comes on when I plug it on.

Hi Twal

I would advise that you call our contact center so that a consultant may do some troubleshooting with you.
If the device if suspected to be faulty and is under warranty, they'll probably arrange for it to be collected and tested.
If it is then found to faulty, they may then replacement device.

I tried troubleshooting with MWEB Guy on twitter. Did all the necessary steps that were provided, still wasn't functioning. I mentioned that to MWEB Guy on DM. There was no response after that

Now that you mention the Range Extenders...
Never received ours with the FON Router..
