Hi MalcolmF, I am sorry to hear that you want to cancel is there anything I can do to make you reconsider ?

If not, then all you need to do to cancel is to go to myaccount.mweb.co.za and sign in there then click on "My Products" and you can cancel from there

I have a question why does uncapped not mean uncapped it means 70gig to 120gig depending on when they check your downloads. I have been downloading ffrom steam and got throttled for doing so and this has gone on for a week now and when i got unthrottled i was very happy sadly the next day the DL speed was once again stuck at 40kb and now as im typing this it has gone down to 27 and this is with just 1 device connected doing nothing but a speedtest PS we are using a 2meg line the dl speed is usually 200kb. can i please get a response on this bull**** as i am close to losing my temper and smashing the modem to bits cause im paying R199 pm roughly for an unusable service.

1. Your acceptable usage is 70GB per 30 day rolling window on a 2Mbps Standard uncapped account. Not monthly. So if you stop downloading for a day or two, you will go back down below the threshold, and go back to full speed.

2. You still have reasonable access when you're throttled. You don't get cut off.

3. Perhaps look at upgrading to 2Mbps Premium, or 4Mbps Standard.

Hi Jeano1, throttling works on a 30 day rolling window and not on a month to month basis.

So if you are throttled today then you have to look at the usage for the 30 days leading up to today.

The threshold on the 2Mb standard accounts are +- 70Gb

Send em a PM with your MWEB details and I will be able to confirm which account you are on and what the specific threshold is

Hi MWEB Guy,

I've just gotten my 2MB Uncapped account a few days ago, and the speeds are stinking slow avg. 50KB/S (max 95KB/S). I've maybe downloaded 2GB worth of data, so throttle should't apply, right?

What speeds should I be expecting?

I need to download from Steam, because that's how many games are distributed these days.

Hi sscholle, do a speed test send me the result, also send me a PM with your MWEB details

Merry Christmas Mweb's Guy. Hope you still the original :-)

I have a 2MB standard uncapped line and account from MWEB.
I'm downloading from Steam at a peak of 75kbps (60 avg.), shouldn't I be getting about 250kbps?

I'd say it's likely that Steam downloads are being shaped at the moment (are they not classified as p2p, which are shaped during busier hours?). You'll probably find that you'll get full line speed in the evenings. As always, it's best to download after hours, not only with MWEB but with quite a few ISPs these days.

I am now unthrottled again but i must ask i am looking to purchase the elder scrolls online which is a 96 gig download should i rather just save my money or attempt it?

Buy 100GB of capped bandwidth or upgrade to a suitable account as per above chart.

Well apparently you can do about 70GB on a 30 day period, so it is going to take you close to 2 months to download that game, if you download nothing else.

So you must either upgrade to a premium account, buy a capped account as suggested or move to an ISP that does not have such a low limit on their uncapped accounts.

Nah, turns out speedtest results show the truth. (http://speedtest.cpt.mweb.co.za/)

The speeds initially blip at around 1.5-1.2mbps then it quickly tapers down to 0.5mbps for the rest of the test. (the speed graph however is very spiky, and not consistent). I'm sure these symptoms are due to DSLAM congestion. Anyone care to discuss?

So I got off the phone from MWEB Tech support, he said its likely that MWEB are syncing me at 1MB, however I ordered a 2MB line.
Well done MWEB, how hard is it to setup an ADSL account?

Hi sschole

I have had a look into this for you and from what I can see is that your account is currently still in the staging stage.

I have also checked I see this sort of accounts can take up to 10 working days to become active, due to the public holidays this can be delayed.

I have however escalated this and I am doing me best to this sorted out asap.

Can someone please confirm at how much the 6mpbs Uncapped (non premium) accounts get throttled?
I get my 4mbps line throttled at around 113-odd gig, which is usually fine, I hardly make that, but some months I do a bit more downloading, and thinking of changing to a 6mbps package for the extra bit of headroom.
