MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Haha! I feel like we're in the exact same boat. Northern Suburbs CPT. Almost every area around me has FTTH and VDSL, even 10Mbps but my area is stuck on 2 and 4Mbps with no signs of improvement. My line was also in pretty bad shape, so much so that I actually went out and bought cable and replaced it myself in our property (obviously with Telkom's help to connect up to the telephone pole and install the telephone jack). Needless to say this didn't improve anything (LOL) since the line from the junction box (silver/cement cylinder) on the corner of the street to the SDC and so on, is incredibly bad. The only difference is that my line stats improve with bad weather, when it's hot and dry in summer, it's terrible and loses sync almost every day.

Problems with Telkom, problems with ISPs. I don't mean to seem pessimistic but DAMN things are not easy these days. :wtf:

Yeah. It's gotten so bad now days. Telkom just does not maintain all their lines unless it's in a very expensive area >_> Also you sound far from pessimistic. Everybody with a brain knows Telkom is absolutely awful. It's absolutely pathetic how they feel that their service is "world class"

And dealing with their support is 9/10 times absolutely awful because all I ever get is some person who sounds like they are likely literally reading off of what to say in x situation/complaint.

On a side note, my Mweb account is now going at a more "stable" download speed of 100KB.... Sweet... I really love this. I should ask if I can get 30KBs instead as thats the real hardcore download speed for broadband these days.
His MWEB account is also still down
:D

Hi Guys

We would just like to reiterate that MWEB business is no longer part of MWEB.
I have received confirmation that they have had a network outage earlier and their engineers are attending to the matter.
All further queries regarding their service would need to be directed to them.

Maybe say who is "them" and provide a link with contact details. There seems to be quite a bit of confusion as to whom to contact.

We still down....seems the l2tp services have not been restored

Still down too, just need loadshedding now and this will be a perfect day...

Well not really down, have this error now:
Cancelled Account

ERROR 602
Your service has been cancelled.

So MWEB thanks for saving me the trouble to cancel by myself

Well my login page has MWEB all over it....
And the listed callcenter number goes to mweb.

So until they fix that then it is still MWEB

MWEB Guy, please provide an answer?

Shaped to 2.5Mbps at 05h00.

There's clearly something wrong if torrents run at account speed, yet YouTube is shaped to half of it.

MWEB Guy, please advise?

working fine on a capped account

Might be that special switch on Uncapped accounts that apparently exists...

MWEB Guy,

I know you are just trying to do your job, but clearly there is a major problem with MWEB's uncapped products. I've actually had to purchase bandwidth from another ISP because my "4Mbps Premium Uncapped" account is just too slow to surf or stream.

We are waiting for an acknowledgement from MWEB regarding the issue, be it lack of IPC or a badly designed shaping policy.

Hi PostmanPot

Was the torrent DL the same time you were streaming...

Yes, of course.

...and is it still the same now?

I like your sense of humour. :)

Of course, you know well that p2p is shaped until late. So I'm getting 0.1KB/s now, as you would know. Not that I care, I don't use torrents.

The point was to show you how YouTube is still being shaped at night, while torrents run at account speed.

Please provide an answer as to why, and when this is going to be fixed?

Now:

I can barely even load Instagram videos. And they're causing streaming to buffer. What in the actual...?
