MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Hi The Secret Turnip, do you notice any difference in the quality between the two types of video? Since playback works in alternate browsers, this implies that the issue relates to Google Chrome specifically. Are you able to alter the playback type in Chrome?

Please also PM me your MWEB account info so that I can further investigate.

It's not coming from Chrome it's coming from MWEB's traffic shaping rules. There is a plugin for Chrome to get it to use mp4 instead of webm, but I never tried it.

It works fine at the moment but I don't know if it's because someone at MWEB fixed the traffic shaping or if it's because there is no shaping happening at the moment.

Yeah I can't play and youtube vids in Chrome but it does seem to work on Firefox. Not sure what this problem is, though not a big issue for me now since I can just use another browser...

Haven't got the faintest now, Mweb's blaming chrome and no one Chrome testing side has this problem. Must be a traffic shaping error on Mweb's side. I have however improved chromes over all performance. Just go to settings - show advanced settings - scroll to the bottom to system - remove the check from the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available" - restart chrome

Getting Bad gateway messages now... :/

Error message I get on and off;

Gateway time-out
The web server reported a gateway time-out error.

Struggling to buffer a youtube video in 144p, love it!................................

Hi nakedhousee.

Tell me has this improved also tell me which browser you are using and if you have tested with any other browser.

I manually changed my DNS server to Google's (8.8.8.8) and can view YouTube in Chrome now. @MWEBHelp problem with your DNS servers?

edit: possibly not, changed back and still loading YouTube (strangely)

Thanks for the feedback, we will complete some testing on our side as well; to see if we can replicate the issue.

Hi nakedhousee.

Ill have a look now, but if twitch is any indication its struggling to buffer twitch on medium quality and my line is not even being maxed out. so there is that.

Im using Chrome and have tested with IE which works fine, but if youtube on Chrome was the issue im sure there would be loads of complaints and not just Mweb customers.

Thanks.

Still having this Chrome/YouTube issue happening, also get ping spikes via some online gaming like World of Tanks and Armored Warfare. Haven't tried on The Division... Hey @TST you still getting those problems?

Edit; I have a backup account with Afrihost, guess what! No more Chrome issues!!
Please guys test on a different ISP connection, see if you still get the Chrome issue...

Usually 22h00, you can also call 087 700 0777 until 22h00 24/7/365 if you have a more urgent issue.

It's an accounts issue, can't call on that. Trying to reset a family member's password for the login. Unless that belongs to technical fault.
