MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Well tonight my gaming was bad. Keep getting disconnected in BF1 while I'm still on ts but after a while my whole internet disconnects and then comes back online.

My friends that's not with mweb have no issues playing the whole night

Good Morning, I have updated the open escalation for you.

Our Specialists team will continue to contact you to try and identify the issue.

Since around 4pm yesterday I've been completely unable to play Elder Scrolls Online... I login, my ping is 250 or so, which is playable. I move towards battle, see an enemy.... ping instantly jumps to 12k+..... and within 20 seconds I'm disconnected. This has happened every single time, time after time. Other internet has been very up and down.... 1 second I can stream YouTube HD no problem, then the next second I can't buffer YouTube at 360p. Any ideas?

Edit: I just ran the Mybroadband speed test. I have a 6meg line, ran the test to JHB.

This seems slightly.... wrong. Latency of 37, but..... download speed of 1.11. WTF?

So, tried again... that 1st result was very good, in comparison.....

Tried the CT server instead...... ummm, seriously? WTF am I paying for here?

Assuming... ok, I don't honestly know what to assume. Massive line fault, or what?

Good MOrning, the account has actually been upgraded to 8Mbps.

The line readings seem fine at the moment as well.

What are you speeds like this morning and did your experience improved yesterday evening?

Hi MwebHelp guy, I was actually just about to update this status. Same speeds this morning, but I've just spent 40 minutes or so on the phone to Mweb technical support with a very helpful guy (Mweb tech support is really very good, in my experience!). The line "looks good", we tried a variety of things involving the router etc etc. Same dismal results. Got slightly better using the Telkom guest account to run the tests, instead of my own login, but still well below what an 8 meg line should be getting. It appears, therefore, to be a problem on the Telkom exchange side of things, rather than a Mweb issue. Next step... the hell that is the Telkom fault logging process. I apologize for clogging up this thread with what seems to be a Telkom problem!

So I recently got a 4mbps line but it's not syncing at 4mbps probably because of my line stats. So I changed the modem and the stats improved slightly. Here are my current stats:
stats.PNG

Modem says max rate is 5120 down.

@MWEBHelp, Is it possible that I can get 4mbps with these stats ?

You are syncing on G.DMT it should be on ADSL2+ (G.992.5)

Check your cables, I have seen this when one of the wires in the pair do not make contact ASSIA drops you to G.DMT.
Easiest way is to plug a phone onto the cable you use to the router, and listen for dial tone.

Call whoever manages your DSL line and ask for a port reset/refresh.

The other possibility is you are connected to a Marconi DSLAM which only supports G.DMT.

I actually changed the modulation to G.DMT since it gives me better SNR margins than ADSL2+

Anyone currently having latency issues?

Hi, following our conversation on Twitter, you confirmed that your technical issue has been sorted. Please feel free to let me know if you require further assistance.

Im on a 8mb/s uncapped package with 8mb/s active line. before the mweb upgrade i was on a 4mb/s package and all was fine. however, after the upgrade and increasing my line speed it was working well on the first day or so, downloading at around 800kb/s , now im basically back to half the speed im actually paying for, downloads are at 200kb/s.

Hi mk97

Please PM me your account info if your speeds have not improved.
I'd like to check this out for you, include your ADSL telephone number.

Hey there! I've just noticed that my International here in Durban seems to be sluggish. Google and Youtube seem to be down. My Speed test however is perfectly fine.

Hi, do a trace route to an international site and give me the results.

Hi! Took me awhile to access an International site, nothing would load. Its odd, things seem to be working now however Google Mail, Maps and GTalk have a bit of a delay.
