MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback

It might just be you. Updated 5 apps not 20 minutes ago... :p

Its weird, I couldnt open the play store, just said no connection. switched to 3g, fine. switch to wifi - try update apps - connection error. switch to 3g - fine. switch to wifi again - error. switch to 3g and update app - fine. switch back to wifi - now it works.
I think maybe its a problem with the dns via mweb, once it caches the lookup with cellc its fine for awhile.
Will just have to monitor this.

edit: now I try update another app with wifi, and it says no connection! really seems like an mweb problem. can browse the web via wifi no prob, but looks to be a mweb - google problem.

Is it just me or wont apps update on android when connected to mweb?? I can update and download when using cellc 3g, but soon as I connect to wifi with mweb it keeps saying error downloading and sometimes it just says connection time out!

Is it prehaps related to the gmail problem??

Hi reactor_sa

We are not aware of any trouble with android phones updating apps when connecting to MWEB.
Send me your MWEB details so that I can have a look at your account.

Hi Dames

Is it just youtube and torrents that are running slowly ?

That has been the general trend ya. But more so with torrents than youtube. And speeds don't really seem to improve when moving between day and night.

Tell me what sort of speeds are you getting on your torrents.

Just want to say thank you to MWEB Guy for all your assistance re the Splashtop issue. Since established the problem was our own dvr software and not in fact p2p shaping.

Hi Mweb

So Afrihost slashed their 4MB uncapped accounts to R397/pm - are you guys going to follow suit ?

Hi Fjorko

Our focus is currently to improve the value of our entry level products so that more customers can benefit from higher line speeds at a great price. Our 4 Mbps Uncapped product @ R539 is already offering great value for money compared to anything else available at the moment.

Hi Mweb

I signed up for the 1MB uncapped test account and I've been getting 36-40KB/s for usenet downloads. These look like 384KB/s speeds to me. Is this how the standard 1meg uncapped accounts perform or is it just the test account thats throttled/shaped? I want to signup for the full account this weekend.

Hi IRG

We have no reported outages for Durban.

I have refreshed your account. Please power down your router for a few minutes and test.

Thats OPS Normal, you will find the shaping relaxes after hours - it will never run full tilt 24/7
They have a very intelligent shaper that balances out the network when under stress

Hi Mweb

Are you nuts?? It's a balancing act of the following:
Quality
Quantity
Cost

Price goes down, quality goes down. Simple.

@reactor is correct.... Afrihost capped product is excellent but their shaping mechanisms on the uncapped fail! Been there done that!

@MWEB still seems to be an issue on hop 5....
