The evening started out so promising.. I was getting good speeds from astraweb...

Now its totally dead.. it just times out..

I'm also downloading from astraweb currently @ 37KB on my 1meg line.
 
Hi MWeb Guy! I'm still experiencing random disconnections and my international seems to be pretty slow. :(
 
Seesh look like you had a busy night last night MWEB Guy, my download speeds are fine as well as my browsing best it has been for a long long time. I just have one question though, on a 4MB uncapped shaped connection what will be the upload speed on it, not that I really use it would just be interesting to know...

Hi Schitzo,

I looked at the account, can't see the disconnects you are referring to on the account as it is holding on our side. It could be varies things, I would suggest testing on a different pc, testing with a different router, testing a different port as well. Please keep me informed.

Hi TmanSA,

The upload speed will vary on a 4MB line, but it is up to 512kbps. You will be able to see estimates on our site as well.

Thought my issues were resolved yesterday but unfortunately Megaupload is back down to 18kbs. I miss the pre-SEACOM break speeds. Back then I got 70-90kbs during the day.
 
Yea im still having the same issues of very slow internet, only seems to work anytime from 20:00 - 00:00 just whenever it decide

congested exchange, the times you mention your internet is ok, probably when the people near you is not using the internet
 
So everyone in this thread that complains, and their first hop has high latency means its a congested exchange and nothing more?

Only other possibility is you are downloading while doing tracert
 
So how do i go about fixing this issue?

If i contact Telkom they say "its fine on their end" its like the generic response for 99% of troubleshooting from them.

And if you are lucky enough to get a hold of a supervisor, all he does is "Sir, there is nothing i can do from my end, everything is fine"

Any advice would be appreciate,

sorry for the late reply, cant seem to download faster than 170KB/s, where some sites go from 6-10KB/s then back to 0KB/s.

Please advise me which sites you are referring to and the speeds you are obtaining?

Well this is where it gets weird, When using IDM I cant download faster then 33KB/s, but when I use Jdownloader it goes full speed. But I cant use Jdownloader on ftp sites. thats why I use IDM.

The sites im refering to is
mediafire
filesonic
8rapid
ftp://87.103.236.85/

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what could be causing that, perhaps try another download manager or look at the settings within IDM.
