Good evening AfricanTech

Please let me know if the stats you are providing is with a wireless connection? Also are the other 3 devices on your network active at the moment?

I'm actually not bothered too much with downloads being a bit slow - what really gets me is when "standard" stuff (youtube, itunes, browsing) stutters, and buffers and whatnot.

Good evening,

Those stats are from the wired PC.

The laptops are active (1 general browsing, the other doing a download throttled to 40kb)

PS3 is off.

Good evening TheRift, which traffic is slow at the moment? Also please inbox me your MWEB email address.

Can you please test with only one active device on your network or test what your experience is like with the other devices.

LOL - will try later - not worth risking the reaction from the wife if I tell her to stop browsing so that I can test! :D

:) I understand.... let me know when you are able to test...

MwebGuy: The problem I was having yesterday with Skype is back. It worked last night, but tonight the video and audio is choppy again. Its working perfectly on my FNB Connect account.

Gregmcc my astraweb problems also came back this morning... I seem to have astraweb problems when you have skype problems

I switched my router off the 20mins and then reconnected and the problem went away...

Hi Schitzo,

I looked at the account, can't see the disconnects you are referring to on the account as it is holding on our side. It could be varies things, I would suggest testing on a different pc, testing with a different router, testing a different port as well. Please keep me informed.

Regards,
MWEB Guy

Hey there MWEB Guy! Thank you for looking into it! I've just completed tests with a new router, PC, different port and DNS settings. I've also changed my filters and had Telkom refresh me at the exchange.

I'm still being disconnected every few minutes. International works but is very slow. Took me 42 minutes just to open Yahoo.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi Schitzo,

Do you perhaps have another ISP account you can test with? Could you possibly test your uid/pass on a different ADSL line. You'll just need to add that landline line number onto your account before doing so.

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Tried switching off as well. Doesn't help. The only thing that helps is switching to FNB connect.

This happened to me as well, but I just reset router and it was fine. Its happening to me right now again though, gonna reset soon.

I've had terrible speeds the past week or two. This is my current speedtest result (local)

International NY:

International London:

With both those tests, the speeds were far from consistent. It was like a yoyo the whole way through the tests.

Router:
SNR Margin (dB): 24.3 12.0
Attenuation (dB): 25.5 13.5
Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 511
Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 4096

Is there some sort of problem ATM?

Here's a screenshot of the actual test being done, note the fluctuations. The only reason it got over 1Mbps is because of the spike at the last half. So very inconsistent.

Good evening MyDogHasNoNose, your line readings seem fine at the moment; please let me know how your network is set-up and if there was any active traffic when you did the speed test?

Well Im back to unplayable games and skype again, resetting didn't help today :c
