MWEB Guy,

Something weird happened to my router (Billion W40 - provided by MWEB).

What happened:

After uninstalling Hotspot Shield program (Used it to fix SC2 "Content not loading" issue), the router's Internet LED went from green to red. DSL sync LED looked OK. I reset it 2 times. It did nothing to fix the problem.

Now it's back to green. It stayed red for about 10 minutes.

Is my router dying?

Hi Kitty09,

What I can suggest is maybe trying with another router to see if the same problem happens. If it doesn't, then it could be the router that is giving you the problem.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Got the same issues was very sudden, had 170ping then went up to 1500ping turned router off for about 5 mins rebooted didn't fix it.

Websites are all very slow local & international

Getting connection drops like a bad habit agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain tonight. I maintain sync but lose my gateway/connection until a router reboot and it is delightfully frustrating. Oh and slow browsing in general as others have mentioned.

Last night was a disaster.

Hi All,

Please advise if you are still experiencing any issues today that you experienced last night. I would like to look further into it if it's still on going.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Hi 3GisDaMan,

Is this the only site you are having issues with or are there other sites that you are having issues with as well?

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

It's the only one I know of. It's been like this since yesterday. I took it up with their tech guys, and by accessing the site through a proxy, I confirmed it's in fact up and running.

Oh ok, so what else did their tech guys mention? When you try and access the site without the proxy, then you get the results that are displayed in the traceroute?

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Correct. They have tried accessing it through proxies all over the world (except Africa), and it always works. So there is some problem on my (our) side.

Hi 3GisDaMan,

Thanks for the info.

I am trying to download SW:ToR. Its 27 gigs. I cant get higher speeds than 50kb/s on my Mweb UNCAPPED UNSHAPED account. While on my axxesslite account I get 200kb/s stable. This is unacceptable mweb. There is a reason why I got unshaped. Fix this please.

Its going at 20kb/s a now. Really?

Hi Zord,

I will look into this for you now.

Please advise if you from Twitter also and what type of account is the axxesslite?

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Yeah thats me on twitter as well. I am sorry but this is just unacceptable. I pay you guys R1000 a month for an UNSHAPED uncapped 1mbit account. I try to download this game (which btw has already been released and this is supposed to be my pre-order) and its 27 gigs. I am currently downloading at 40kb/s on a 2mbit line with your 1mbit account.

I swap over to my normal ADSL prepaid axxesslite account and get 200kb/s stable. Its just not right.

Hi Zord,

I understand your frustration.

I see that you are currently on a call with 1 of our technical consultants.

Let me know if you need any further assistance after the call.

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Yes I do. That was a good try by your consultant but I am sorry it makes no sense. You guys are trying to tell me that my line is the problem, when clearly from the evidence provided, that is not the case. How is it all possible for me to achieve 200kb/s stable on a different ISP on the exact same line? I switch over to MWEB and I am currently getting 40kb/s on the same line.

This really wouldnt upset me if I had a normal uncapped SHAPED account, but I do not. I especially bought the unshaped version because I spend A LOT of time on the computer and I do not want to be restricted by shaping/throttling policies. Now tell me, what is the point of me keeping my unshaped account with you guys when seemingly it isnt unshaped???

Hi Zord,

What type of pre-paid account is it and could you send me a screen shot of the download speeds of the 2 accounts.

Please also send me tracert & ping test from any local & international site of the MWEB and axxesslite account.

Also do a speed test with the separate accounts, all this will help in getting to the root cause of the issue.

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Hi Zord,

A technical specialist will call you in the next few minutes.

Ok so the problem seemed to resolve itself. The only thing that has changed is the time. If this happens again tomorrow I will let ya know. Thanks for all the help though, it is much appreciated.
