Hi Mweb Guy

I spoke to you on Thursday about an issue I had. Here's a link to the post in case you need to refresh your memory. I pm'ed you a reference number on that day.

First of all, I've since borrowed a router to test if the router was faulty and I had exactly the same issues with that router (the very fast flashing ADSL light (Dlink) or internet light (Netgear). That coupled with the process of web browsing dropping before torrents then dropping too - which I described more thoroughly in the quoted post.)

A Telkom guy has spent the day trying out different things. First he moved the line to a different port (I think is the correct term?) on the Imax. Same problems. Then he dropped the line speed to 2Mbps and finally 1Mbps but all the while the same issues of intermittent internet and flashing light remained.

I used the Telkom guest account login and the problem was resolved. Obviously I can't check torrents with the guest account but web browsing (of the Telkom website) worked whenever I tried. Also, the ADSL light was solid like it should be and like it has always been prior to this problem. However as soon as I put in the Mweb login details again, the ADSL light flashes very quickly like before and the internet works intermittently once again, as described above.

He said he would send the complaint to a specialist but he thinks the problem is ISP related and said I should contact Mweb about the problem.

Could you please advise me on how I should proceed? You have my reference number should there be anything you can do to help but otherwise, who should I be talking to about this problem?

Thanks.:)

Here you go:

Hi the pings and tracers seem fine. Could you please try using speedtest.net and provide me the results. Please ensure alltraffic is stoped on your network while doing these tests.

Good Afternoon bbabraham, please note that your line was syncing at 1meg; seems Telkom felt that is what needed to be done for you to obtain a stable connection. I have set your line speed back to 4meg, please let me know how this impacts on you.

YOur query with us is still open and you should receive feedback from us during the course of this week. I have also noted that the Telkom fault is still open as well.

It was still set to 1meg from earlier this afternoon when he was testing whether reducing line speed helped. We concluded that reducing line speed made no difference. He said he would request it be set back to 4meg when he got to the exchange but you must have beat him to it.:p

I can confirm that the line is back to 4meg and that the same problems persist.

Thank you for your help. I will await feedback from Mweb during the week.

Slow again today only on mweb tried 512 webafrica account its running faster then my mweb 4mb account.

The speed is so random though i just want to know if I can expect to see the line becoming stable like it was last year.

testmy.net "Your connection scored only 22% of your hosts average."

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1769005744.png

iv have had these same results now for more than a week.

I also removed the other connections from the network i get the same results,.

Hi Shuyin,

The results of the speed test seem in order.
Are you having trouble with browsing internationally?

Mweb guy, me thinks there is a problem with all Mweb accounts! had to switch to my Afrihost account for good few hours today just so i could get email.

Everything seems to be back to normal now, but the internet seems to be intermittent all the time, hope Telkom are not playing silly buggers with your guys IPC links.....

Been a good weekend until now ...... was rocking 275 ping but now it's over 300 again and climbing :/
