Just please tell me why Mweb has packet loss and other ISP's don't ...... acknowledge it and look into it - will make up for a lot.

Anyone else experiencing problems with Youtube recently?

Cant even stream a video at 240p on a 1 meg line...

Getting ridiculous

After reading some of the feedback in this thread I almost didn't get mweb uncapped because of all the negativity, but thankfully I spoke to couple of my friends who had uncapped and they said it was going great. So I thought I would share my experiences with anyone who is deciding weather or not to take the leap.

Definitely get it, it is the only true uncapped service available, all the others are a complete joke. Its been 2 months since I have been with mweb, and I can download any time of the day with full speeds, I can browse no problem, watch youtube videos, and get amazing gaming pings. I came from Openweb Gold (so I paid extra), and it was dismal. You can't browse during the day because you are so badly shaped. Downloads are non-existent after 7am and before 5-6pm and I couldn't even game between those times.

I will report back if my experiences change, but for now, thanks Mweb for actually understanding what it means to be uncapped.

Hi evovil,

I had a look into your MWEB account and ADSL line.

I picked up that your Attenuation is high. Were you aware of this and do you perhaps know how far you are from the Telkom exchange?

I have refreshed your MWEB acc and have recreated the Telkom port. Please power down for a few minutes and test.

Also we have no reported issues with Youtube on our Network.

MWEB Guy

Thanks MWEB Guy...

Yea I was aware of the rather high attenuation as well as rather bad margins as well...

Im roughly 2.5 km away from the exchange as the crow flies, but i suspect the cables take much more of a "scenic" route...

I experience a couple drops in connection at least every day (im pretty sure you've picked this up)...

The reason I bring the Youtube issue up is because it was working fine about a month ago, then slowly diminished in speed, whereas normal browsing, gaming, and downloads have been fine.

Hi evovil

Is it only your youtube that is slow or are any other streaming sites slow too ?

I'm coming to the end of my Telkom 3 month trial next month. I'd like to save money and go with Mweb 1mb uncapped but I'm a bit worried about the shaping, especially for torrents. How bad is it exactly, there's a lot of conflicting information on this thread? On Telkom I always get full speeds for torrents at night (and actually most of the day too despite the advertised throttling).

Haven't really tried other sites, although ive never had a positive experience with vimeo...

BTW, what exactly is involved in the process of refreshing the account? what exactly does it do?
and recreating the port?
