MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Thank you for your prompt reply. I have tried with different devices (PCs), but with no luck. Had no issues whilst with other ISPs. I can access supernews just fine with allt.binz, but not Mweb, which I find strange.

Something somewhere must be causing an issue then.

News.mweb.co.za port 119 definitely works, just downloaded from it. I am using newsleecher , maybe alt.binz is problematic?

About to be forced to buy a prepaid gig so I can game on a Saturday evening ........ ridiculous.

Even on my asus transformer tablet with nzb leech app It doesn't want to connect, but supernews connects fine. So I doubt that it's alt.binz, I also tried a simple email client that also refuses to connect.

That is weird, all the tests I have run to our news server show that it is working correctly.
I am not able to replicate your problem.

Regards
MWEB Guy

Well, I at least know that the server is online and working for others. I just need to try and figure out why it isn't working for me. Possible routing/firewall or similar issues.

Thanks again for the help.

Still sitting with 5-8% packet loss ingame ........

^ to show my line is normal

On a more serious note, I'm having dips in connectivity with my Mweb account. All traffic went completely dead for about 9 minutes just now.

You could throw in a testmy, speedtest.net and if not try down the router for 30 mins. See if your packet loss continues. Worst case it's the exchange :(

Hey!! Something weird happened today :( Our internet got cut off (The Internet LED was red but our phone line is working just fine today) for some reason until I rebooted the router. Now it's working as normal. What's going on? :( :( :( I bet it will get cut off again later today :( I want to know how it happened. Is there any way to prevent it from occurring again?

Hi Kitty09,

I have checked your account and ADSL line and could not find anything wrong.

"I want to know how it happened." Could of of just been a glitch as I do not see any dropped connections on your account.

If it happens again, let me know.

MWEB Guy

After reading some of the feedback in this thread I almost didn't get mweb uncapped because of all the negativity, but thankfully I spoke to couple of my friends who had uncapped and they said it was going great. So I thought I would share my experiences with anyone who is deciding weather or not to take the leap.

Definitely get it, it is the only true uncapped service available, all the others are a complete joke. Its been 2 months since I have been with mweb, and I can download any time of the day with full speeds, I can browse no problem, watch youtube videos, and get amazing gaming pings. I came from Openweb Gold (so I paid extra), and it was dismal. You can't browse during the day because you are so badly shaped. Downloads are non-existent after 7am and before 5-6pm and I couldn't even game between those times.

I will report back if my experiences change, but for now, thanks Mweb for actually understanding what it means to be uncapped.

Hi,

Unfortunately that test account doesn't want to trace or ping so I used my own webafrica account:
