Just want to say thanks for the great service. Moved house and only hitch to get back to the net was Telkom. Sorting everything with mweb took less then 10min. Great customer service :)

Awww :D Awesome feedback!! ;)

Great that you had a good experience :)

Why you can get their is a mystery but it looks like a routing problem on their side.

From the US i can traceroute to them but not from here. Dies at the 2nd last hop to them. Can't get their via 3G either.

Odd. Tried FF/IE/Chrome - wget from a linux server - can't connect.

Can you traceroute to it?

I have tested at the test bench now as well and I cannot access the website. The tracers also timeout.

I am sending the query off to our network team to have a look at.

I did manage to access the website via ninjacloak (interim solution for you ;) )

Good evening

I have re-authenticated your account and noticed that your attenuation is very high 54dB. I then re-created your port as well, please reboot your router for a few minutes and let me know if it helped.

Thanks MWEB Guy...

It improved a tiny bit but it still refuses to stream at anything faster than about 50 KB/s

Unfortunately im stuck with the bad attenuation due to my location from the exchange, and it wont improve unless Telkom decides to upgrade infrastructure in my area...

I could downgrade, but quite frankly I couldnt live with anything slower than 1 Meg...

So I just have to live with it I guess...

Been experience terribly slow YouTube of late, it keeps defaulting to 240p on a 4meg line. Strange since downloads really fly!

Morning erMaC

Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll investigate further.

Does anyone else here have issues with lack of response from the Mweb billing department? or the fact that they just can't follow through on a simple instruction. OMG this is so frustrating

Hi BrendanMc

Please send me the request via PM and your MWEB account details and I'll investigate further until resolved.

Hey Mwebguy - I'm having trouble downloading over FTP. We have an FTP server that operates on port 21 in the states, we use TLS for security. When I download large files, it starts off at a decent pace of 150-200kbps but within a minute, it drops right down to 9k and stays there for the rest of the file. What gives? Is this Mweb's way of throttling traffic? A person can't work when you have a 300 meg file to pull and you have FTP running at 9kbps. Any advice would be appreciated.

my 2c:
Been on MWEB uncapped 4Mbps for a month and a bit.
Etter, what a pleasant service.

Did about 90GB in June, browsing and viewing youtube only.. no serious downloads. (need to get into news servers)
And they have this MWEB Guy feature. +1000000
Had some minor issues with the accounts people, used the MWEB Guy feature, sorted within minutes
I have constants good speeds, no disconnects.

MWEB FTW.. keep it up

I have checked your account and line and all readings are good.
Is it just with the FTP that you are having trouble with ?
Can you provide me with a trace route.

Oh, the line is good - like I say, it consistently starts off at high speed. What we've done as a workaround is install dropbox on that server and stick stuff in there. It's consistently quick when pulling from dropbox on our local machines, but when we ftp directly, it's quick for about a minute and suddenly drops to a consistent 9kbps as if it's being throttled.

I'll PM you an ftp account shortly to test. We are using rackspace for the server - I'll contact them as well to see if it's their side.

Hi MyDogHasNoNose

Please see my PM response stating it's not MWEB related as I've done the test with a Telkom account also and get the same results.

We do not throttle.

Hi Mweb Guy

I s something wrong today? my down speeds is .21 and up speed is .12 on a 4mbps line. Can you please reset my session?

Good Afternoon TmanSA,

I have re-authenticated your account, not sure if it is going to help you though.

Your line readings reflect a high attenuation 53.1dB and your line is syncing at 3852 kbps. Please also have Telkom recreate your port.

Thank You Mweb Guy...

Recreating the port will not help much i am afraid... there are still big problems on our line on this side towards the exchange... to be honest it is a waste of time (and Money) to phone telkom, its now been 5 Months + and still the are incapable to fix the problems... I am close to giving up with them... they are useless... and their helpdesk is worse... u can phone 3 times a day and all 3 times the will tell u a different story and all 3 times they are lying through their teeth... totally useless...
