MWEB Uncapped ADSL - Official Q & A

getting 100k on news at the moment, I am using astranews, mweb news too slow this time of the month
 
Question, i just signed up - uploaded relevant documents etc but the connection doesn't work. Was it supposed to be instant activation ? I got the username/ pword via sms, my dsl and internet lights are green (ok) on the modem but the connection just doesn't work. tried resetting modem, switching it off for a couple of minutes, resetting dsl line but nothing's working and apparently mweb's support service is only available till 10 pm O_o or did i get that wrong ?

Do you have an old proxy setting or something in your browsers settings?

Check DNS settings too
 
*sigh* works now but had nothing to do with invalid username/password or dns settings

Torrents fluctuating between 310 kB/s and 340 kB/s - I love 3am speeds on MWEB.
 
news server is dying, getting 10KBps if im lucky, bin like that since yesterday 5-ish, never sped up even through the night
 
I signed up today for a 384 uncapped account. I am a bit disappointed, I am maxing 20kbs (saturday morning...) maximum using astraweb international news server and can't even bypass the shaping using ssl ports...
 
Mweb support is absolutely shocking.

Called an hour ago about SMS - after 15min they answered - gave them my details, they have me username and password. I hungup and tried it - doesn't work.

I have now been on hold for 30min, cut off at 15min the first time.
 
Same here xrapidx phoned 2 times sofar 15mins+ each time, i wont bother phoning again
 
Finally in - this is bloody annoying, the issue was that the account creation page doesn't limited you on the amount of characters for your password, mine was 9 - it then only uses the first 8 characters of that for the ADSL account password... .even though the email address still uses 9 characters.

Might be an idea to limit both - and let users know?
