When I asked why telkom they said the whole south africa does not have international access cause its a fibre break which is not true cause SAIX and IS based accounts still work.

The network status pages shows "MWeb ADSL" is down, so why would Telkom attend to this. The next entry shows "Telkom ADSL" so we are now able to distinguish between the two. Internet access in the whole country is not down.
 
Yeah I got sick of waiting on their call center. So what, all internet works except mweb? You know I first got mweb adsl about 5 odd years ago, and kept the account until last year, and in that time I don't remember any downtime which I couldn't immediately trace back to cable theft of main telkom lines, or flood or lightning or something similar that made telkom flounder to get it repaired, though I will say that they have gotten to be fairly good at replacing the stolen cable. Mweb though has never given me any problems like this. This does not bode well. I hope that this is only a very temporary crash for mweb, and that soon we will be sailing on the 99% uptime sea.

I know that. I called support and the guy told me its a fibre break and Telkom is attending. He told me that other ISP's does not have int too cause its a telkom problem. So Its not my opinion. just saying what support told me

Yeah, this explanation puzzles me. How does a fibre cable just "break"? Did a workman with a shovel not consult a reference diagram of an area and decide to dig a hole somewhere? :wtf:

Isn't that maybe South Park? Or maybe they had a similar episode... Damn it sucks, my Telkom account capped, so no International for me :( Please fix it soon MWEB

now that i think about it, it did see a dude in a orange overall digging a hole near the buccleau interchange... maybe he finally hit a pipe haha

How can Mweb be the only ones affected? Mweb doesn't own fibre do they?

I don't know all the details, but MWeb's uncapped service does not run over IS or SAIX; they are a tier 1 operator for their uncapped service.
 
I have to peform remote surgery on a patient via the net, when will it be back up? :D
 
fibre breaks are not just a simple 1,2,3 they need to test segments ensure that the break has not caused shatters anywhere else on the cable itself. I would say its going to be down a few days at least.
 
As long as it's back up, I don't care what the problem was. They have not been sneaky or underhanded at all with me so there is no reason to doubt what they say :)
