I can assure you that mweb would not change there retention policy for one person. You really are not that important. Perhaps it was in the works before you even mentioned it. Even thou 2x connections is a waste of time (and no i haven't read the entire thread, got tedious)

You don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about because you haven't read the thread as you admit. You must be quite dim to enter a thread to share your peanut gallery comments without any knowledge of the subject at hand. In my request to MWeb did I say he "must" because I am a "paying customer". If you weren't too much of a smartass to read, you would know I was simply asking him within the context of returning the retention rate to that of 21 March. Is that a horrendous deed? Does that concern anyone else? Why does that put sand in your vagina? Get over it :D

I havent had any such problems . I just browsed quite a few sites now, locally and internationally, and all work. Whenever I have browsed normally on uncapped, I have not had any problems, other than that one night I already mentioned. All sites load fairly fast for me.
Give Tech Support a call if it stays like this, maybe something else is wrong on your side. Also try restarting your router.

On telkom, the news server: news.mweb.co.za resolves to 196.28.78.229 and that runs (edit:ran for a few minutes) full speed

If news.mweb.co.za resolves to that IP, then you are not on Telkom. On MWEB's backbone it will resolve to that IP, which means you are then on the MWEB network, not Telkom's.
I am also using news.mweb.co.za atm, although it is not very fast @ 50KB/s, I am also streaming Youtube with no buffering, and I am playing online games (international EU) with an average ping of 450ms.

Uhm. The # of hops is not indicative of slow loading or anything. If you are getting good pings, low latency and good thruput, then it is not a problem.
I traced to www.iol.co.za and also got 14 hops, but my ms is very low, in the 30ms-50ms on each hop.
Browsing is also perfect with no problems.

Not too shabby if you ask me.

No it is NOT pro-rata.
If you join before the 15th, you will be charged full price, and after the 15th - half.

With Telkom, you can cancel right away, but will lose the remaining month's cap/credit.

If I hadn't read it on MyBB, I would have no idea that as an existing subscriber to Mweb, my terms of service had substantively changed, and that it could affect the quality and performance (both positive and negative). I usually get lots of notifications from MWeb about other stuff, but have not received any communication about the migration process. (Granted the network backbone is not exactly spelled out in the Terms & Conditions).

I believe the onus are on users to find out what their TOS are and if it changes at all. It works pretty much the same with any legal agreement you step into.

Go and work for them and you *might* find out.

I'll explain it, since the rep hasn't.
You need to get a news reader. Do a search on Google for one. Pick one and download it. This is called the 'client'.
When it runs, you point it to 'news.mweb.co.za' and from there, select what topics interest you. You can set it in various ways to download articles, attachments (pictures) etc.
 
Well tried it with Grabit and all I get comm error hmmm!

NVM, got something but wow, I have no clue whats going on here haha. Oh well.

i'm pretty sure they would have to make an effort to inform the T&Cs have changed. An email to the account you have lodged with them would suffice.

A reason why it is important to always keep your details up to date.

Telkoms is fine, just logged on to telkom account and checked .. its mweb thats ef you cee k'ed
