Hi Guys

This seems to be a all over the place thing but I'd like to know if diablo 3 is being shaped more than usual, Day 1 was about 250ms latency and from day 2 400ms+. Since blizzard are claiming nothings wrong I thought I'd check with you guys.

I did a tracert to the server itself which shows pings close to what they were on day 1 but day 2 is a different story.

I would just like to point out that day 1 was fine, day 2 myself and everyone I know got about 200ms added onto their latency. I am getting higher latency on the europe server than I did on the open beta to the US server. As of time of ping the latency ingame is around 400ms.

Just want to rule out that its their servers and not myself (and all my mweb friends, dont have any non-mweb friends who play diablo 3)

I just did a traceroute as above via a Mweb dedicated server and experiencing the same thing, it also bombs out after ffm-b10-link.telia.net.

Edit: Same happens via my Afrihost account.

I will have a look into this for you, can you send me your MWEB details please.

You have a pm.

I doubt its you guys but rather safe than sorry.

As far as I know lots of ISPs are effected. I wonder if Blizzard has increased their reponse times to/from the servers due to the heavy load they experiencing at the moment to reduce the load?

It's definitely load.

The other day my ping in diablo was over 500, yet I could ping 186 to bbc.co.uk

Edited:
I'm on IS btw.

Agreed it's fine at 2am-10am round about, then Europe wakes up and it all goes to hell.

Thanks for the response anyways MWeb.

I'm battling too. I get pings in diablo of 800ms + but in league of legends I get like 200-210ms

I'm using IS though so its not mweb and I doubt its ISp or any type of shaping related. I just wonder why they just not add a couple of extra servers. It might not be as easy as that but seriouslly Blizzard needs to find a solution. They under estimated the amount of people that will use the EU version of the game. I mean its whole Europe, whole Africa, and most online sites sell that key for the Eu version. That is a lot of people.

Yikes - trying to download the client through the blizzard updater takes ages. My Internet Connection is running at full speed (according to speedtest.jhb.mweb.co.za) but the download is going at 15kb/s - 25kb/s.

I disabled Peer-to-Peer downloads in the updater (as I assume Mweb would shape this) but the direct download isn't really going much faster.

Hi XperiAnce

What speed are you getting with the direct download?

I know that the EU servers have been suffering and there are complains about excessive lag. I spoke to some UK people who say they have 40ms in World of Warcraft and then in Diablo they are sitting at about 300-400ms ping.

Also check the Diablo forums, there was a bluepost saying that they are investigating the high ping experienced with certain folks.

So I doubt it is a Mweb problem.

its not Mwebs fault....Blizzard are a bunch of monkeys
there support is bombed with complaints..and no comment from them ... the blue post you talking about was days ago...
they just not doing anything...

I think they don't want to spend too much on servers. I think they think usage will drop soon when most of the non hardcore players stop playing. I played a bit this afternoon on axxess uncapped got solid 250ms ping until about 3 -4 pm when it shot up to 450ms. When EU servers was down i played a bit on us and at times i got better ping than EU servers.

I'm not sure where the problem lies. But I used to play wow, and when Mweb fixed their shaping policies about 2 years ago to allow for gaming to have a higher priority, I started getting 160ms to the EU servers instead of the usual 300+ ms.

With Diablo3, I am currently getting between 300 - 500ms on a constant basis. And recently I have been experiencing very bad lag in D3.

Even though this might be a Blizzard issue with their servers, would it be possible to at least entertain the idea of making sure the mweb shaping policies include the D3 server IP's? So that all is setup correctly on our/SA's side?

Is mybb.co.za the only forum you guys go to? Do you not understand that the entire fat arse mass of playerbase is experiencing lag fluctuations at the moment? This is a global issue, not a localized one, you should get on your knees, and thank God every night you have such good latency to the rest of earth.

Hi Guys

Just my own take on this one as well. Firstly on the traces all ICMP traffic into the Bliz servers is blocked after a certain point so the traces are of limited use.

We have quite a few staff here playing the game and are monitoring the experience very closely (myself included as of Saturday :D).

One the whole (other than 6 hours of Battle.net down time on Sunday) I've found the experience to be pretty decent, the odd instance of rubber banding here and there and once or twice I've had the dreaded error 37 trying to log in.

From our side I'm pretty confident that we've done everything needed to give you guys the best experience possible and the current wobbles we're seeing are primarily down to Blizzard still needing to fine tune the infrastructure and resource allocation required for the initial influx of players.
