...
A whole lot better than my 384 Uncapped line in P-Town..
Which tool do you use to monitor/log ?

Er no dude, that's 1.7gb since yesterday 6pm and around 11gb for the month..

I use NetWorx, if I didn't have to get to work I'd take time to send you the link:)

0700, NNTP downloads are crawling at 20KBs

0706, NNTP downloads are flying at 300KBs.

0710, NNTP downloads are crawling again at 20KBs

0711, NNTP downloads are dead - 0KBs

what the heck is going on!?

I have the same issue. Mweb says telkom lines are messed. Telkom says Mweb connections are rubish. Wish i could just have my line back. even at 3.5Mbit.

lol That was my Usage ...

I must say that since the upgrade mweb done, my speeds have been brilliant 24/7 . just downloaded a 1,5 gig file in less than an hour. (on 4mb uncapped mweb account) :)

Hope you guys come right with your adsl connections.

It seems to me that people are experiencing different things since the upgrade. Some people seem to be very happy with their connection and others, like myself, have never seen it this bad before! Is it possible that the folk with speed issues also have latency issues?

im in Jhb, the download was from http but on my p2p im getting 200kbs - 300kbs on good days. i haven't seen any low download speeds on neither my http downloads or p2p.

if you don't mind, where are you located and how were you downloading - http/p2p/nntp?

@Will: Feedback

Checked this morning and news.mweb.co.za seems to be working fine again.

Regards

PS: Still very happy with my mweb uncapped (in spite of the issues) - just wish we could get a speed upgrade (double 384 is all I ask for)

I am getting download speeds of 16kB/s from a normal http website on a 4mb uncapped shaped line.

I phone MWEB support on Sunday and they tell me to change my user name and remove the dsl. After rebooting the router the speeds were the same.
The consultant says that he is going to get a specialist to phone me and arranges a time on Monday.

On Monday, the so called specialist phones me, only to tell me to amend my usrname back to @dslmweb.co.za.

Obviously this also did not have an effect.

I am at my wits end with MWEB, and 16kb/s does not justify me paying R899

I changed over to my MWEB account this morning when I left for work, checked the usage stats now and it has done 350Mb since 8am till now. On a 4Mb line. HTTP downloads again, which arent from "file sharing" sites.

Cancellation form printed, and going to fax this afternoon. I thought I would give them an extra day or after their "upgrades" to see if it would get better, but it's not. For those of you that are staying with them, good luck.

Speeds still crappy - lots of timeouts / slow sites when browsing, even locally. HTTP downloads being shaped aggressively - still getting speed spikes and dips when fetching data from local ubuntu repositories.

Not an idea I've engineered, but a I heard from someone in the industry that the reason 'anti-shaping' protocols are no longer downloading at full line speed (during peak hours) is due to the sheer volume of people running such on shaped accounts during peak hours. The quick way around this (rather than hunting down/warning/upgrading individual offending customers) is for the ISP to shape the whole range, something he says he confirmed with an unpublished IP... May be complete BS but possibly worth mentioning:confused:

Mweb seems to have big problems at the moment. This upgrade has not improved things at all.

After this weekends "upgrade" my speeds are faster than last week, but still half of what they were the week before that

Mweb what the excuse this week, last week it was the upgrade is coming this weekend??????? this week???? now what

also I struggle to access my mweb email from work (I use MTN business at work).. the Mweb message centre often times out and I have reload a number of times to view my inbox. this started about two weeks back...
