I think it would be more accurate to say the following:
1. MWeb experienced a total loss of international connectivity between 11h55 and 12h05.
2. The backup routing via JINX-TENET-SEACOM kicked in much quicker than on Wednesday (12h05 to 12h20).
3. Normal connectivity resumed around 12h20.

As to what caysed the problem, we shall have to wait and see.

To lose one link seems unfortunate, to lose both at the same time seems (insert you favourite adjective here...)
 
Getting 4kB/s on torrents, 1kB/s on mwebs news server and 6kB/s on a http download on the 4mb uncapped shapped acc :S It was never this bad was it?

I'm getting zero on both newsgroups & torrents, so consider yourself lucky.

This is a bit much... I don't mind shaping, but this is wayyyy excessive. If this carries on past the end of this month I think I'll change providers.
 
Yeah my speeds have done the exact same thing. Getting below 5kb on torrents now. 0.58 right now to be exact.

Come end of November and this is still going on, i am definately going to Openweb. This is crazy.
 
This is totally unacceptable?! I'm syncing at 4MB, but the performance is hellish!!!



Any ideas guys? Anyone having a similar experience?

Mweb needs a Winston the pigeon episode. Maybe then they can catch a wakeup call.

I cancelled my account this morning. Their uncapped "solution" is absolute bollocks!!! In the 4 months I've been with them I've experienced more down time / SEVERE throttling than with all other providers combined prior to that. I can't believe I'm paying R539 for this RUBBISH!!!

Dear Mweb,

Can you please look into improving video streaming, , once again tonight I have to buffer video on youtube running at 320p, this isnt acceptable as a 4 meg line should be able to do 720p at least on a bad day, let alone live streaming services like http://www.ustream.tv is completely unwatchable.
 
Up the pole AGAIN!!!! Why the hell cant you people provide even a semblance of what you advertise? I am losing my flippin patience properly now. 4Meg line and cant even stream Youtube? WTFFFFFFFF
 
MWeb news server has being useless today. I don't get it, would they rather have us using up their international bandwidth then download off a server hosted on their network with cached content ;) Give it a thought MWeb.

I would think this is going to force some to bypass shaping, make any difference??

Am on uncapped shaped upto 4MB and its going at 50KB/s :/

It's still working okay for me.

It's to be expected though, but holy carp are torrents slow during the day, I've just had to adjust to how the service used to be in the beginning, to how it is now with zillions of subscribers.

I heard that these Illusive creatures have been attacked by a bacteria known as myISPsux and myISPlies, the remaining few are in hiding, ashamed to show their avatar in public...
 
Expected, probably? This is a continual thing - if you check the thread, MWEB is up for a couple of weeks, down for a couple of weeks, being upgraded for a couple of weeks, down for a couple of weeks, up for a couple of weeks, etc. etc,.
