Hi Pseudz, do you have a shaped account with us and are you downloading from 1 click hosting sites?

Nevermind news, which is still at 8kb/s but now they are taking away HTTP, going at 22kb/s here. HTTP is suppose to be full speed isnt it? This is from different sites btw. Soon we wont even be able to browse at line speed. Told you guys, its getting worse. Btw, no response to NNTP that the network team was suppose to look into, guess that just didnt happen.

From the looks of my tracert, I'm going from SA to the UK and then redirected to connect to an SA server... :/

Hi Sillicur

Please note that your HTTP will be affected by the site you are downloading from as well. Also your news server and NNTP speeds have been discussed with you by Will via private messaging.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

So your saying its done? Your saying no more info from NNTP stuff will come out and that this is the speeds will will most likely experience for the forseeable future on mweb? Please reply to this question, so other people can see that their speeds on NNTP most likely wont go up again. That way they can stop waiting for a fix while forking over their money to mweb.

Btw, site your downloading from ? Rofl. Um, what about slow browsing on www.mweb.co.za ? Or mybb. What you saying? That there is nothing wrong with the connection of the ppl complaining about slow browsing even?

So, i asked Will to please just admit to everyone here that their NNTP wont get better again, cause as far as i have seen this discussion is done. Then he ignored me and all of you are ignoring the posts. So, why not just admit it to people waiting for a final answer.

Has anyone acknowledged the IRC issue?

Hi Decado

Please provide me more detail as to the problems you are encountering with IRC, as it is being routed via our London links; however this should have no bearing on the IRC traffic.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

@ MWEB Guy:

I've been having a recent issue with IRC where it will connect and then just time out. Nothing will happen for a minute or two once connected and then it will just disconnect. Someone else had the problem a few pages back as well and I decided to pursue it since it's not only me. I also have another account and when I connect with that, IRC works perfectly, so I'm assuming its something on MWEB's side.

Hi Pseudz, do you have a shaped account with us and are you downloading from 1 click hosting sites?

Yeah it is shaped but I am not downloading from 1 click hosting sites. Yesterday was from nVidia and today filehippo.

I agree, last week till about Wednesday, I was getting great speeds during the day on NNTP, we talking between 150-200 KB/s and from midnight till about 7 I was getting full speed, 400+. Then al of a sudden speeds went to hel, getting 0-20 KB/s during day and not much better at night. What has changed on Mweb side, and why? Wil it not get back to the levels it was last week? I think MWEN must state openly if this is the expected speeds for now on, or will it improve so we can make an informed dission.

Decado, please DM me a tracert to the relevant serveras well and I will follow this up with our network team. We will do the relevant testing to verify if we can replicate your problem.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

Look, every time it gets brought up, they just ignore the posts without replying, cause they dont want to admit it. I brought it up with a quote to his reply a bit earlier, just ignored me and replied to the post under me. Clearly they read it, they just dont want to reply to it. The reason is they want to take our money and keep ppl hanging on, hoping for a fix. Thats why they wont post a reply to the question. If they do reply its gonna be some evading question.

Will and Mwebguy, you have read our posts. All we want is a statement that these speeds on NNTP will be the normal speeds from now on so ppl who read this thread dont waste a few more months waiting for a fix. A post so we can quote it if someone asks about it. Come on, if you dont let ppl know that this will be the normal expected NNTP speeds from now on you are literally stealing from people. Withholding information that might make some ppl cancel their subs.

If someone asks a question about the slow news speeds and you tell them u will look into it, it gives them hope. While you actually know the speeds are more than likely here to stay. I dont want to flame anymore, i dont want to accuse people, but that is in fact stealing.

I had the extact same problem late last week... the problem sorted itself out when I turned my router off for 30 min. When I switched it back on and logged back on, I got a new IP from mweb and my speeds returned to normal.

We are looking into this, I was able to replicate your speed test results form our test bench. I will provide you feedback as soon as I can.
