i'm experiencing constant download errors whereby files will not download completely. i've been fighting for the past two hours to get java installed from the website......... I've tried downloading it on 3 different machines here, and getting the same hassels. Files from Files tube and other share sites are timing out and have to constantly hit refresh to get a page to load.... the other thing, its SLOW.... some files come screaming down, others crawl at 3kbs.....

... i'm really getting annoyed with this MWeb!...

great speeds as usual.

No, its not a telkom line fault.
No, i wont restart my router.
No, i dont have anything else downloading.
No, there are no other pc's connected to this network.
No, i dont have this same problem with other accounts.

Hi avert,

Are you only having trouble with http downloads from the Nvidia website?
I have checked your account and your area, I cannot see any reported issues.

Also from which region are you downloading? (North America, South America, Europe, Asia)
Could you please PM me the link to the file you downloaded so I can test it from my side.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

I have this exact same problem except I have a 384k line and account.

Hi PseudZ,

If it's a true http download, then it should remain constant but you could experience the occasional spike.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

nVidia constitutes a true http download I would assume. Way too many spikes there.

I was browsing(slowly) the openweb website just now & realised how their 'OpenBrowse Uncapped' description sounds somewhat better than my current 'uncapped' MWEB experience (& cheaper too!):

Account Information

* This package is made for good quality browsing access.
* Shaped - P2P, torrents and similar will be shaped.
* Similar services like hotfile, rapidshare and any download type of material ** will be limited.
* 1 concurrent ADSL connection
* Excludes Telkom ADSL line rental

** For downloads, we would suggest our Standard or Gold Uncapped products.

I can't help thinking that the above is something like what my account has been downgraded to & that this was MWEB's plan all along...nntp is slow/unconnectable most of the time, my torrents will have sequels out by the time they finish & browsing & other http stuff is crippled...oh well, have to make the decision soon...openweb gold/AH is sounding really good right now...

Browsing has been pretty good today, but downloads from http sites are still timing out. P2P speeds are not great, but ok.

streaming video from blip.tv and gametrailers is p1ss poor, this isnt value for money this month too date mweb.

This morning on mweb unshaped.

Also can't connect to mybroadband.co.za on Mweb but fine on Telkom, was wondering why the Mweb tread was so quiet this morning.

Same for me. I am posting this from a Webafrica connection.

International NNTP traffic is still being shaped to death. Come Monday I will be giving notice to cancel my MWEB account and I will sign up for OpenWeb Gold on 1 June.

This is truly getting ridiculous, everything is dead slow, takes up to 5 minutes to load a web page if it opens at all. Youtube does not work at all...

Good Morning

I also had a problem connecting to MY BB this morning, I also had the same problem connecting via my Cell phone. Suspected it was the site itself. Please let me know if you encounter the problem again.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Working for me? On MWEB uncapped shaped... Been working the whole morning. *touches wood*

Morning Gargmel

Are you still experiencing slow speeds on all platforms?
