i've just signed on, and must say, websites are snappy compared to SAOL... Its a 4mb account however my line is still on 384k till SAOL upgrades it... the torrent i'm testing on, is maxing at 42k dipping to 30k here and there... (SAOL was around 22k to 32k) not bad!... Can't wait for the line upgrade!

line upgrades usually happen at the click of a button when on the phone with a telkom techie :) at least with me.

All of that sounds like something you made up.

For one, my traffic over my mweb account has been consistent bar for a short outtage last night. Other than that, the routes over both sat3/seacom that my traffic take has been consistent as well, meaning the intermittent problems you say they have is to do with something else, most probably on your side or your line on telkom's side.

As for switching between the two cables, I don't see why they need it while they use both at the same time, and more importantly they don't do layer2 over sat3 but instead seems to be using telkom's gold service.

I am not a fan when people make up their own stories and then spread it as the truth...

Now would be a good time to investigate your theory. International is down for the 3rd time in a week. Lets see what explanation comes up this time...

Glad to see its not just me having problems. My internet access has been terrible all week and I don't mean downloading - which I've all but given up on except after midnight - everything has been slow and periodically it would just die and I would have no access for about 10 minutes.

I know the problem is Mweb because I haven't cancelled my previous ISP yet and when I switch back my internet access is perfect. Mweb "uncapped" is seriously bad for my health.

They say it takes 7 days but mine took 2 days

Ok so currently I am on 384k with telkom. I want to switch over to the mweb 384k uncapped shaped account. I will use it for mainly Steam (I don't know how many of you use steam but it rapes your cap), online gaming and torrents. Could someone tell me if it is worth switching over to mweb for that? Also is the mweb account reliable?

Same usage profile as you. Was previously on an IS account. The MWEB account is definitely snappier. Only really tested after hours for the past couple days though. Not sure about performance during office hours.

I'm also on 384k and torrents are useless during business hours. It's understandable, though. Overall, my MWEB experience has been very positive.

IT was down for 5 mins earlier, couldn't connect to any site. But i'm getting full speed now. Really am glad with this MWEB account.

hasnt gone down at all for me today

Last night it went down at about 9pm for about 15 mins. so far so good for today.
I have just upgraded from384 to 512 line, but quite honestly I cannot quite see what the diffs is. This is what I got a couple of hours ago when I did a speed test. http://www.speedtest.net/result/770633049.png
Please could someone tell me if this is acceptable for a 512 line, or whether I should query it.
TIA

Hi

That looks like what you should be getting on a 384K link ( give or take a couple of Bps ). Your upload speed is way lower than what it should be for 512K ( should be around 0.20Mpbs)...

do some tests to other servers too and compare....

I find speedtest.net results a bit "iffy" sometimes....

What account is it? 384k uncapped? Cause it will be limited to that speed even if you have a faster line.

I am on a 512 all included package

where else should i do a speed test?
