MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

OK, after a night of leaving it I averaged 18k for a (well seeded) torrent from 23:00 - 06:45. Have managed to secure a test account from another provider so will plug that in tonight and test it with the same stuff.
Will spend the weekend comparing speedtests, http downloads and browsing.

Sorry Mweb - thanks for the ride, it was good while it lasted but I think this is where we part ways. Good luck though :)

Any amount of money paid for a service that is not delivered, is too much in my opinion.

No I agree with you 110%. However, finding an ISP in SA that delivers all the expectations they say they do is quite impossible. I myself have been with many, and they all either have shocking service, or shocking speeds. Or both! So yeah, my R219pm doesn't feel as wasted as a R599 one does.

4M line, business account, uncapped

Getting an average of 17kb/s on p2p

WHAT THE HELL, MWEB????

ps - This is not the first time I have had to complain! It is getting to the point where I am about to look into my entire bill (+500k/year) and at an alternative provider...

My torrents seem to be far faster (and by far faster, I mean erratically veering between 2 and 15 kB/s; when I first got this account, it was consistently about half speed during the day and about 30 kb/s at night, that was great) during the day than at night.

I'd leave, but I don't think there is anywhere better to go.

*shrug*

Well it seems to me if you don't torrent or astraweb and only surf and so on then they don't care about you...

"I'd leave, but I don't think there is anywhere better to go. "

True, unfortunately. The thing is: when it works, it's awesome... they just need to stop fixing things that aren't broken!

I could of sworn I posted that MWEB will have another excuse for performance issues after the upgrade... I must go and find the post :p

Hee Hee Have i got one for you guys...

My Torrents are chugging along at a whopping 7kb/s, my nzb downloader is like a constipated person, 1-3kb/s most of the time, but every now and then a burst of 20kb/s for second or two...

But the sad fact of it all is both of these are still wiping the floor with my http download going at 3kb/s...

So, Mweb, after my fight with you yesterday, you did manage to switch me to a 512k line, and as i predicted, it took less than 10 minutes... but now that the line speed is 512k... could you try get the service end of the deal to match too?

Speed tests don't look pretty either...

After two good nights.. my luck has run out :-(

Tuesday and Wednesday night I ran virtually at full speed using Astroweb... Last night MWeb were back to their old tricks,... 20k a second wtf Mweb.

I am sorry mweb but dont use the shaping excuse. Network usage cant be that erratic... People are creatures of habit and we should be seeing by now a normal usage pattern and Mweb can plan accordinly

Not one night brilliant speeds and the next barely moving.

For a change my link is idle, as I have run out of things to do on the net now. Thought I'd run a few quick speedtests before I leave for work.

well i have business uncapped accounts and the downloading on http are stuck at 10kb/s on an 4mb line lol... i have cancelled the accounts moving to Gold mutch better for me...

Funny how the farther away the server is the faster it goes...

I was wondering if anyone else would notice that :p

Anyways, my torrents during the day run at about 60kB/s, sometimes going up to 100 (though rarely that high). I haven't tested night-time downloads in a while, as the stuff I want is usually finished by the time I return from work. My web browsing is always very snappy at night, but as I don't really download it's hard to give numbers.

Funny thing, I switched to an Afrihost capped account at about 11 last night. My speeds on Newservers jumped from 60kB/s to 800kB/s.

One thing I have to say is this:

I am using the Mweb 4mb uncapped for our school and it's the greatest thing ever pretty much. Watching 20 kids all streaming videos off of Schooltube while everyone else is browsing normally makes me happy inside :)

Never heard of streaming 20 videos and still being able to browse at the same time
