MWEB you ****s now I cannot do my work without purchasing bandwidth from someone else
More costs incurred by your lack of a fallback connection.

I would have thought for business accounts they had backup - and the more expensive capped accounts?

Mweb should consider changing their slogan from "Connect & You Can" to "Connect IF You Can" and also potentially rethink the "Stay Connected" bit...see the FB profile image for reference

strange, my home PC which is still online using MWEB 4mb Uncapped.
Logged in from work using Log Me In, torrents are downloading at about 90 kB/s.....
seems like i got lucky :P

Updated Outage Status:

The fault has been isolated to fiber damage caused by road construction. Engineers have begun repairs and the estimated time to repair should be around 3 hours.

To further add to our challenges for the day we are currently experiencing a telephony outage in our Cape Town call center, so customers may experience problems getting through to us at present. The fault has been escalated to Telkom and is being attended to urgently.

Kind Regards
MWEB Operations

I punch in googles dns servers in my router and that gave me a connection that works.

I emailed Mweb with an request to downgrade my account to 384. So I get a call yesterday. After confirming the email, the sales lady informed me that another department deals with my request, she will forward it to them. WTF, was my email not detailed enough?

Anyway...

For the first time I see that myBB (Hetzner) is being routed via local to Mweb again!
It's odd that myBB didn't work a couple of minutes ago when the International access on Mweb was offline...

I'd love to know who gets held responsible for something like this - surely it costs a small packet in downtime - I'd be outside hanging the construction company foreman by a crane.

You mean I have to actually go outside or do something constructive for once?!

Thanks for the update, hope you manage to resolve everything shortly.

there`s going to be a lot of very pale people walking around outside this afternoon.....looking a bit dazed and not sure where to go.....

LOL @ everyone calling MWEB the devil because of the downtime when it was really some construction idiot that caused everything.
On the plus side my line is suddenly freakishly fast and stable, mayby they should have these beneficial breaks more often.

Its fine for me in CT, so I suspect you may be having a DNS error on a particular website.

Note that google.com is hosted locally, and peering links may be temporarily upset.

Edit: If you think that international is down, looking at the TENET-SEACOM graph (which is currently carrying ALL of MWeb's traffic) will convince you otherwise:

Hi Gordon

Correct. International links themselves are fine, the outage is on the fiber links that run from Midrand into our Data Centre.

Kind Regards
Will
