Download Speed: 272 kbps (34 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 103 kbps (12.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

Speed is improving, but nowhere near perfect, I'm on a 384kbps line.

Online gaming still a no go with mweb, getting 4800 pings in all the international games we play. A few days ago mweb acknowledged the problem and said they are trying to fix it - no word about it has been spoken and it still has not been fixed. Giving out WTFast accounts does not solve it either. It makes no difference whatsoever.

this problem has been going on for well over a week. and there has been no progress made. no other isp's are having such bad problems which makes it something you have done, possible undo it and make EVERY customer that requires international happy ?

its not just affecting international as it requires the router to be rebooted/restarted for any web pages(local or international) to load ... that is not acceptable ... I can understand issues taking time to fix ... but people not even being able to have a stable connection for more than a few minutes is ridiculous .... that should be your top priority!!!

I did look for the alleged reply on face book at http://www.facebook.com/MWEB, but failed to find it. Is that the correct address ?

I don't know. Someone posted something in the ASA ruling thread (I think) quoting something from the Facebook page. Either way, the matter is pending and I'm sure we'll hear more as and when there is something to tell us :)

If you are on 512 you have it already, be patient. If on 384 upgrade to 512 (The now new 1024)

Are you sure about this? I know that others have been told the same by MWEB tech support, but I've been told by PM that I need to call to upgrade myself and, I guess, pay the inflated R782/month. And I know that my line supports 1mb (& probably 4mb) 'coz it was doing 1mb when I got home on
Tuesday but was bumped back down to 512 by the morning...anyone know what's going on?

yeah, im going to openweb, unless theres an urgent improvement of their service and it stays that way for the next 2 weeks

Yeah I think I might do the same thing when my 512k line is upgraded to 1mb and there is still no improvement. There is also fantastic support on here from Openweb I believe.

Connection has been much better this past week, i guess that towards the end of the month mweb starts capping/restricting me

My line was upped to 1mb by Telkom and while I am still on a 512 Mweb uncapped package I have been noticing higher speeds (double in fact). Think it is possible that Mweb are also upgrading their 512 customers to 1mb free of charge?

HI, news servers were doing well from about 1am, till just before 8 this morning. not sure how it is doing atm.

Hi absk300,

What are your actual DL speeds and could you send me your MWEB account details and I'll investigate further.

Also add the following in your feedback:

• Ping to news.mweb.co.za
• Tracert to news.mweb.co.za

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

News server was fine on Saturday .... didn't use it Sunday but come Monday morning and it's back down to 150kbps max. Lol, you guys are shaping it, it's apparent to blind people even.

Hi AJB,

Please send me your MWEB account details and a contact number and I'll arrange for a sales consultant to call you and explain how the 1mb account works.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Hi Mweb Guy

Thanks for your reponse. It is always helpfull to have you guys here on the forums for some quick info.

I checked my account status on your website and it still lists me as 512 uncapped.

Hi Mephisto We've never given any indication that news server traffic wasn't shaped. We do realize that there is a segment of our customers who make use of the MWEB News server and we do try and give this some additional priority, however this traffic ultimately still falls into the p2p class and will be shaped accordingly.

Happy with shaping as long as it works ..... hell, I'm even happy with the speed because it's shaped. I just wanna know that ok, such and such a time is shaped and after hours it will be all good again, that's all (sometimes it just stays shaped 24/7) ;)

Our business adsl dropped about 2 times during the weekend. We are using a home account now as we feel the business ADSL perform worse in many ways. The way it's performing we will be thinking of cancelling once the contract ends and go for home account.
