1am it hits max speed finally. Hopefully this will last till about 9am at least before the insane shaping starts up again.

Hi Cataegis

Please advise if it is only the news server that you are experiencing problems with? Could you please provide more information as to what exactly happens when trying to connect to it? Are you able to do a ping or tracert to it?

Hi MWEB Guy

I sent you a PM as well.

I am able to ping and do a tracert to news.mweb.co.za since this morning but haven't been able to do so since last week Thursday or thereabouts. However it still won't connect , keeps giving a time out error (it's as if the M-web news server is there and I have connectivity to it yet when it tries to establish a connection to that port it's as if the port isn't active or something) and I have tried various nzbs of stuff that I know is cached and I haven't made any changes or installed software such as firewalls or anything like that. My connections to the international news servers are fine so yes it's the only news server I'm experiencing problems with.

Mweb Guy any idea why the speeds were so crappy last night? Even with an above average connection I had crappy downloading/gaming speeds.

I dunno if this might help but im from the East Rand Joburg area.
And concerning the speed change not really, I remember before 9PM I downloaded an 15MB patch on my PS3 and it went like smooth under a minute .. Then all of a sudden everything went to hell, I rested my router, and even tried some random downloading site to see if it was maybe just PSN. But saw I only had like +/-20Kb/s on the clock? Even other downloads suffered a bit. When I left this morning for work it seemed like nothing changed regarding to downloading speed.

P.S did some speed testing when everything went to hell last night and this was my connection which doesnt make sense to me at all!

News is regarded as P2P and normal shaping rules would apply. Using any method to bypass these rules would be in breach of the AUP.

Why does speedtest and mybb speedtest max out at 3mbps, when i have a 4mb line?
not that it will make or break my day, but i wana know why it capped to that speed

Is it telkom or mweb?
