Have you ever thought it could related to your router? I know very little about this stuff but ya maybe it's the router :D.

I am a total internet addict so i would never have a locked router, that would mean if there are any network problems you are offline, so if mweb go offline for 2 days you have internet for two days , i think i may die :D.

:D When I experienced this problem during April 2010, I tried out another router, but this didn't solve the problem. I haven't tried a different router this year, but it's a good point; it might not be the same problem as last year. I did backup my router settings and then reset it and restore settings, but this didn't help. I could also try my router somewhere else. Good idea.

Good suggestion, but yeah, I took it down from 1492 to around 1452 and/or 1440 I think. No difference :( I expected that to work.

You might try going a lot lower. Try around 900. If that works, increase MTU until it fails.

Dropped it to 900 but no change -- same as when it was at 1492. This podcast doesn't even start downloading. Here is the WireShark TCP packet capture. I do this:

Code:
$ wget http://www.diablopodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/tdp-ep2-max-part2.mp3
--2011-07-03 00:53:58-- http://www.diablopodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/tdp-ep2-max-part2.mp3
Resolving www.diablopodcast.com... 89.107.69.77
Connecting to www.diablopodcast.com|89.107.69.77|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response...

And there it sits with this happening:

I'm not a TCP expert, but I can see the three-way handshake of SYN, SYN ACK and ACK, then the request to get the file. Then there's some stuff about duplicate ACKs and non-HTTP traffic...?

The crazy thing is that I can download episode 1 fine, and episodes 10 to 14, etc. Episodes 9, 15 and 19 download but stall and won't resume. When I try to resume them, they do the same as episode 2 (above) -- the connection is established but there's no throughput. All the "broken" episodes download fine on a (capped) MWEB account elsewhere and on a non-MWEB connection.

I'm going to swap out my router tomorrow and test it elsewhere and test another router on my line. All other Internet usage (browsing, updates, other downloads, YouTube, etc.) is fine.

CT steam node preformed very well last night. Rift updating at 400KB/s. Seems the steam nodes was overloaded....

From the above the only conclusion I can come to is that they have a ACL on sw4.bsq.skymarket.net.uk which doesn't allow SA IP's to connect.

Will .. why cant i open this site ..http://www.7dayshop.com

Hi Kimbo,

The site opens on our work LAN but at the test station(same setup as a customer) the site does not open. I have escalated it to our Service Desk.

There is almost something like a redirect that appears for 1sec and then the site opens.

I don't think it's because SA ISP's are blocked from accessing the site as mentioned it works on Afrihost.

Please try the following in the meanwhile turn off all your firewalls and then test the site. If still not working turn back on the firewalls.

I will keep you posted once our Service Desk provides feedback.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

If it works with afrihost i doubt turning the firewall off will help.

Hi killadoob,

I have come across these types of scenarios before and when turning off the firewall somehow the sites open.(for troubleshooting reasons)
I guess it's to do with the IP and different networks.

He can always turn it back on:)

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

It's not working if I connect via WebAfrica or Mweb. Maybe they don't block afrihost's ranges.

...It be really strange if webafrica and mweb's routing/dns is screwed since www.7dayshop.com doesn't work on both of them for me, however with any anon proxy service I can access the site which says to me; blocked.
