Mweb news servers completely dead, not even connecting like it normally does. went down at 5:35.....the actual servers are down now. Even when shaped the still connect. Now Mweb takes down the servers during the time its not shaped so badly as well. Really a scumbag move Mweb.

Going full speed 384k line, Durban.
 
Back up for me now as well. Still, not one week without issues.
schumi when did you connect ? Otherwise mweb was just killing PE's connection to the news server. Even more of a scumbag move then if you ask me.
 
going full speed here too .but slightly older nzb's go at 40KB/s on my 4 meg line.the new ones fly.
 
Started my download around 3 am, I only use Mweb News Server, and one click hosts, don't use my connection for anything else so don't really have any issues, I'd be tempted by Open Webs R139 special if I were you.
 
well then they took mine down for a hour just to piss me off i guess. "we dont shape individual users" lololol

Edit: Just to explain, mine is going full speed right now as well. It however was down for a hour for me this morning at like 5:30. I did not change any settings or reset my router and it started up again on its own so its clearly not a line, telkom, user error or anything like that, it was purely either my account or their servers that caused the issue.

Thinking about getting 1mbs uncapped adsl with mweb next month. Do I need to apply on the 1st of the month or can I apply a day earlier or what? I just don't want to sign up a day early and get billed for an extra month because of 1 or 2 days remaining in the month.

I suggest you ask Mweb guy for a test account first.
 
Did you guys also have trouble streaming porn..... Ag I mean videos last night? The thing buffered like every 5 seconds... was making me mal!

Hi Qrox, If you do sign up during the month the you will get billed pro rata for the month.

Thx for the info. I guess I'll sign up on the first then. Anyone know how the billing for telkom will work when I upgrade my line? I currently have a 384 line and will need to upgrade to 1mbs. Should I also do this on the first of the month or before that in terms of billing?

Speeds are really bad again today. getting like 20KB/s on everythng and when I do a Speedtest I get line speed.

this has been the problem for the past 2 months,

cheating the results on speedtest.net
just to sign up and see amazing 1mb speeds on 4mb lines.

Its just plain unethical, but thats the mweb we've known and loved for many years.

Browsing seems to be okay. Streaming, NNTP, Steam is all rather pathetic.
 
Yeah streaming has really taken a turn for the worse in the last 2 weeks, cant stream ANYTHING even the 360P videos buffer every 5-10 seconds
