I just like to know facts and numbers rather than just seeing "usage has increase"...

Still don't understand. We can only assume it went up.

But I doubt there would be a way to ascertain the exact increased usage due to BIS downtime. It's too variable.

Good morning everyone

Just a quick update on the Seacom situation:

Some more bandwidth was brought online last night bringing us up to 83% of our required capacity. We allowed P2P traffic to run from midnight to 7am after which it had to give way for critical traffic again.

We are working on having the remaining capacity restored during the course of the day after which all traffic priorities will return to normal.

Kind Regards

sharp shoot! I noticed my downloads were flying again last night, even managed to finish 3 downloads too.. NICE!

Thank u very much for the Feedback Mweb Guy, so hopefully everything will be back to normal by day end.... that is good news.

Just wondering why I have a 1kb/s link to newsgroups.

You using a paid server or Mweb's server? Resetting my router and changing the port on my supernews account solved my problem this morning, getting full line speed again. Seems like for some reason on port 563 supernews was not accepting my connections but on 443 i'm getting connections.

I am still battling to connect to the steam content servers. After install a fresh version of the steam client, the first thing that pops up is "Steam.exe(main exception): To run Steam, you must first connect to the Internet."

I have tried on 2 PCs within the network yielding the same problem which leads me to believe that it is either being caused by this cable being out or the modem configuration (unlikely as all other services work and no ports/services are being firewalled).

MWEB - Could you validate?

Does anyone use news.newshosting.com?

From home I cannot connect to their servers, but from another machine (non-Mweb connection) I can. I can connect to any other account from home, it is just news.newshosting.com

Edit, non SSL connections seems to work :wtf:

Afternoon Bounce, we are aware of the STEAM authentication issue at the moment; it is being affected by the current outage.

Mweb Guy / Will

any update on this outage.. when can we expect this alternate bandwidth that was suppose to bring mweb back to 100% capacity ????????

A paid server.

I'm using uncapped & unshaped - around 10pm last night I suddenly got downloads running at 390 kb/s.

Am rather curious as to why some ports were not working .......
