ok so I've decided to give Failkom the boot, and I'm looking for a replacement.

I was originally planning on switching to the Mweb Uncapped 4Mb package for R899 but have recently seen the new Webafrica Titan special (R799 for 50GB)and I'm wondering whether I should maybe go with that instead.

I play online games, and download using torrents and news servers so low latency and good download speeds are essential to me. I'm not that concerned if speeds are slow during the day, but they must be bearable. I am not willing to settle for anything less than the 4Mb option.

What I want to know from you guys is what has been your experience with these packages so far in terms of:

1. Latency
2. Download speeds
3. Daytime speeds

Any other comments or suggestions are welcome too. :D

Have no problems with Titan.

Excellent latencies, no shaping day or night. The WAGE freezone is also a plus.

Daytime speed test

Don't like them anymore, but WA are the only ISP to have maintained a goodquality on their network. So go with WA

I am using the WA 25GB package. Last night at 11 I decided to use up my last 1GB on a torrent which downloaded nicely at over 400Kb/s. I also play Bad Company 2 for PC online & have reasonable pings. Killadoob would be the person to ask regarding online gaming using Mweb uncapped because he also plays BC2. I think we both have 4MB lines.

I'm also on Titan 4 Meg, but the 15GB option, and I have no issues with it. Speeds are fantastic day and night and through the whole nightmare that Seacom has gone through over the last while I haven't felt anything (many thanks to SAT3/SAFE :D). I play some Borderlands every now and again and it's smooth. Decided to torrent up my last few gigs last night as well and it was going at 400kbps+.

Good network, good speeds and good service.

Titan ftw over uncapped, have had a small issue with latency over the past week :-( (but even its worst latency is better than afrihosts best) but normally excellent. dl speeds good as well.

WebAfrica Titan? Where is that on their website? I can't find...

I'm still currently using Telkom as my ISP on their "Faster"(512kb/s) option, getting 5GB/month, and I'm sick of it.
I have been waiting to see if they would upgrad their line speeds or cap amounts by now, but they've done nothing during this whole bandwidth pricewar, so it's time to move on. I've been watching the whole uncapped thing evolve, and don't know if it's really right for me, especially with all the Seacom troubles lately, and the changing speeds throughout the day or night. Telkom has been reliable in giving me a steady speed all the time, as well as hardly any interruptions to the service. Thats what I'm looking for, except with higher bandwidth amounts, and the 50GB option from WA looks perfect. I just have some questions from those users who have WA Titan accounts.
Firstly, I'd like to upgrade my line speed to 4MB. Do I call Telkom to do that, and is it only R80 extra/month than what I'm currently on?
Second, WA says "The Titan DSL Specials come as monthly accounts with fixed life-time special rates."
Does that mean that I will always pay R800/month, even when the special is over or are there a limited amount of places open for subscribers on this package, as I see the data only options are sold out?

Chances are the price will stay the same, the amount of gigs will be upgraded. You can see this as it has already happened with some of the 16gb specials (before the titans) was upgraded to 30gb.

ok lets add some spice to this thread :) im on mweb uncapped and get torrent speeds during the day of nothing less than 60Kb/s on the download at night i get 300-400Kb/s last month i did 450Gigs of downloads. Call of Duty 4 i get a latency of 30-50ms constant (at night - Working during the day) but on weekends during the day i find i get the same ping. i think MWEB would be the better option hey. i can show you screenies and speedtest if you want?

Thanks guys for all the input. I am definitely leaning towards WA atm...

I am very interested to hear this as you are the first person I've heard with positive feedback on the Mweb Uncapped. I wonder though whether your location might play a role in this. I am not in the greatest location (although I am pretty close to Cape Town City Centre) and have had to have my line limited to 2Mb due to transient losses of synchronisation.

All in all, its quite a difficult decision... Its the stability of WA vs. the Uncappedness of Mweb :D For now, my sight is on WA as gaming is slightly more important to me than downloads.

I went with WA for most our services now :D

Only hosted exchange that they dont offer (or do offer but dont maintain if i understand correctly)

I am on a complete 7 with WA (4 meg line; 30 gig cap).

Consistently good. Most of my downloading is via their news server and speed is pretty constant at about 200kbps. I feel like I am on uncapped and have downloaded quite a bit and hardly watched anything yet.

I recommend WA for sure.

Keep us posted

Agreed with WA - I've always had my line with them. When Afrihost came out last year I went on to that, only to eventually come back to WA with the Titan package. Now I see what I've been missing - fantastic network speed and latency.

Also, customer service is brilliant - got my 4Mb line activated in under 24h (from 384kb line).

WA is in its own league. The rest are all fail....

i have our business running on MWEB business uncapped (my personal is the home business uncapped - R539), i know of 4 (2 on a 4meg line, 2 on 384s i think) other people on MWEB uncapped that are getting the same results as i am (all in different areas). all in all i and other are VERY pleased with the uncapped from MWEB.

P.S. check this thread that has started http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?237027-Webafrica-Titan-Latency&p=4052117#post4052117
