MWEB won't pay to peer: What will happen next?

Good for you MWEB. It's about time that someone stood up to the bullies in the SA Internet space.

This is so disgusting it makes me nauseous. "Come, join us in the profiteering game, take the SAn end-user for a ride, rape the South African consumers wallet together with us, and keep our little game going at the expense of the economy and progress etc." ... by charging a fortune for what costs almost nothing, e.g. plonking routers into local INX's. Thanks MWEB! Am signing up again with you next month.

This strategy may have started working already and according to industry rumors, Internet Solutions (IS) has already started peering openly with MWEB in a proof-of-concept agreement.

If more of this happens then they (Mweb, IS, etc) should get big enough to hopefully "bully" telkom into open peering..

Big up to MWEB for having some cajones and standing up to these bullies. If the rumours about Internet Solutions coming to the party are true, then big up to them too!

Now bring us some compelling reseller solutions so that other IT companies and business can also help to show our support for MWEB, and all that they are doing for the internet in RSA. I'd love to move my clients over from capped bandwidth, to MWEB uncapped.

Help us to help you to help the South African internet industry.

peer with us for free or we wont peer with u?...
Also now that mweb are going to be saving the money (since theyre not peering with them any more and hence arent paying for it) are their fee's going to reduce (by an amount to reflect their savings AND an additional amount to reflect the (potential) degradation in the service)

Maybe they will see the benefit of setting up their own game servers? I know they have some but they don't really cater for all games. A new wave of complaints will surely be about high latencies to local gaming servers.

Maybe they will also get their Usenet server to work.

No transit = direct, better network/gaming speed?
 
Only if the other network with the server is peered will it be good/better, otherwise it will be much worse, the other traffic all goes internationally.
