My Blackberry Z10 experience and problems

It does not void warranty. You will get a base update with a Vodacom sim and once you pop the CellC sim back in you get a CellC specific carrier update. I think CellC will push towards the end of next week. It does seem that VVC is faster with the OTA's than anyone else.
I got a micro Vodacom sim from the local cell shop. I did not rica the sim. Took my MTN sim out and replaced it with the Vodacom one. On home wifi I updated the phone's software to 10.0.10.82 all went well no problems. After the update I reinserted my MTN sim in. All well no problems. Now they must just make whatsupp available.
how to u get the update from Vodacom ?

I then went into Settings / Software Updates and it keeps saying"
"The Update Server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later"
Error Code: 2032"
My Wifes Z10 (Vodacom Sim) inserted into fone and last night i got a notification about the update but i dont have Wifi @ home.
Anyone know how can i update via Vodacom ?

u found a solution ? i think i have disabled it as i no longer ge t those "40 / 50" messages every now and then.

Love the new OS update improvements. Also went to several cellphone shops in Johannesburg and they've no stock. Even spoke to a clued up consultant they received the stock on the first day and all went on the first day 20 units they waiting for more stock

Yes, open the settings on in the Hub. The last option is "Mobile Broadcast" - just turn it off. BTW: I sideloaded Flipboard yesterday (from here) - all you need to do is enable dev-mode, download the BAR file on your desktop and then sideload it. (I use dev-tools to do this, but there are now plenty of apps out achieving the same).
The Flipboard app works awesome - doing a side-by-side comparison against the iPhone, the Z10 has some super smooth scrolling and fast display. Only app I need to get sorted is Waze and then I am fully off the iPhone ;-)

Just a few general thoughts triggered by this thread:
It seems Blackberry failed to innovate when they had the opportunity. They also failed to leverage their biggest asset, their network, by licensing it when they had that opportunity. Those failures (and some others) has led to the predicament they are in now.
A new OS, comparatively few apps, no compelling "free internet" deals and a rather limited cloud ecosystem places them at a significant disadvantage. The only asset they really have left is their brand. I will be surprised if they are still a player in 2 years time.
Being a self confessed iPhone junky, I also worry that since Apple is now "Jobs-less", they are facing a similar fate and will most likely follow suit. They are not innovating nearly as much as they should on a UX level or on a capability level. Engineering is awesome, but vision is sorely lacking.
Android is probably best positioned to win the battle, but face some significant challenges from their decision not to control the distribution / certification of apps better. Android is already perceived to be at risk from a security threat and mallware perspective. Android devices are also seldom updated and users can expect one or maybe two OS updates for the lifecycle of their handset. If you want the new functionality in the latest Android build, you would most likely need to get an unofficial OS update from somewhere like XDA developers.
If I had to choose a new handset now, I would honestly not know what to choose, but it probably wont be a BB.
Disclaimer: This is my view/opinion and it is coloured by my experience with different devices and a long history in the IT industry. Please feel free to offer an alternative perspective.

I let it download overnight... Now installed. Will test throughout the day and keep you guys posted.
Duan, you make some good points. RIM sat on their laurels and failed to innovate when they should have.
That said, Blackberry does have some cards in hand at the moment. For one, they are well-entrenched in certain areas of business, particularly government, where there are no significant competitors that can meet the required FIPS standards. For another, they've just reinvented their operating system, and it's modern, powerful, and solid. iOS is looking tired, and may need some significant reinvention at some point, and Android is messy and fragmented.
There's a dark horse too: the use of QNX in areas like automotive systems and automation could lead to some interesting tie-ins.

Also on 10.0.10.648. Took the Z10 off charge yesterday morning and used it the last 36 hours for email, calls, Flipboard and other browsing - at the moment battery is at 45% - awesome....
On my Z10 I'm running Instagram, Whatsapp, and BBM with video chat and over the air calls. I can also load a ton of ported Android apps, as well as sideload non official Android apps. I'm pretty sure this makes BB the most open platform device yet. This thing is a multitasking machine. It's blazingly fast.
I don't believe they're out to 'win the battle' .. I don't believe it's healthy to have one unified phone for the entire world. Competition spurs innovation!
