My First, eh, ... date, I think? :erm:

First date at 23? Did you think you were gay or where you brought up by home schooling Christians and hidden away or something?

Women are just men with other bits....
If that were true, there would be no need for a relationship section on any forum... ;)

Personally I'm not a fan of movies as first dates. You spend 2 hours ignoring each other, or at least I do because I really get into movies. Picnics are always fun providing the weather plays along
There seems to be two distinct camps over this "first date" issue. Either people feel that a date needs to involve 24/7 bilateral communication or just a wee bit delayed 24/7 bilateral communication in the form of a "distraction" of some sort - like a movie or show. In my situation I think I'll prefer the latter. Firstly because it provides a way to ease the tension to some degree, creates a new topic of conversation that can be torn to bits and also sets the date in motion for you without any "action" from your side.

shave your balls. Definately.
Sound advice this. Although I do have one question: Why?

Eh - awesome advice. :D

I think I'm just a late bloomer or super shy, but not gay. I would have known if I were gay, don't you think? But I'd put my money on being super shy. Tended to avoid the opposite sex like the black plague itself. Always been attracted to them, but I do not think I ever had the balls to actually do something about it.

Then there is also this super odd fear running amok inside my brain - how do I tell my parents about it? That can't be normal. No freaking way that is normal.

Chillax, if you over think things you'll mess up
At least I'm hoping it is a date. The word 'date' was never implicitly mentioned. I'm still semi unsure how one defines things like this? The same goes for a relationship. How do you enter/start/define something like that? Sorry for the stupid questions, :o but these are the questions that is repeating themselves over and over in my mind like crazy at the moment.

Well if you not sure what to call the sequence of events, you'll need to ask her BUT not now. When the said "courtship" is about to end you can ask her "how was this as a first date or do you consider a date when you end up kissing someone?" ...errrrr you dont have to say have to this if your not comfortable with it. I'm sure you'll find your own way of interacting with her so the date goes well, I mean if there is a chance of you entering a relationship with someone you might as well be yourself from the start.

Good luck soldier and be sure to keep us updated

You better keep us updated, people start way too many threads like this and then just simply vanish!

Good luck!

Be yourself, and don't try to hard.

You've already done the hard part (getting her to go out with you.)

Me, vanish from the face of the earth... before Wednesday.... omw yes! Great idea.

But no, you can rest assured - I'm not like most people. This OP will deliver. Maybe not straight away, but deliver he will. Just after I've recovered in hospital and the doctors have given me a clean bill of health yada yada.

Albeit I'm still unsure how that one happened. [-][/-] :erm:

Or maybe you're just like me. I have no problem chatting or flirting or socializing with girls. I am platonic friends with many. I just can't cross the barrier and go one step up.

Actually I've come to realize, I can't make big decisions. Numerous aspects of my life are still underdeveloped just because I can't take any of the big, bold steps that have moved your life forward.

I'm an introvert. I can count my close friends on one hand. Google is one of them :p . Socializing is not the easiest thing in the world for me - it is an effort to some degree to socialize with people. But it is not that bad. I'm making it sound bad! Generally you would find my peers on a Wednesday night, drinking themselves to bits in some bar - while I'm sitting at home, seriously not interested in waking up with some babbelas the next day. Although that is an over generalization. I can also count the times I've been in a club/bar setting with friends. I just did not belong there.

Onto something else, I've been looking to have like a bunch of flowers delivered to her at work the next day...should everything went okish, but omw - Are these places crazy?! Just want something small, ... R300 eish

I also don't belong in a bar, which is why I found friends who aren't the bar-type. Although they can guzzle red wine to some extent. And they have an obsession with "lang-arm" dancing, an activity which I just can't seem to master.

I love langarm. Only type of dancing that I'd even attempt at doing, for now. Had the best training that one can get this side of the country (Voortrekkers FTW!). Although I might need to thank this one ... female. Jikes, she was absolutely mad about me. She forced me to dance with her the whole freaking night at this one grade 7 voortrekker camp sokkie. Then at my matric ball I just tried to stick to the langarm-ish type of songs. Worked like a bomb. Never danced again after that.

Although I need to overcome this fear of mine about dancing - the those "what will people think about me" thing, not cool. Need to find a club of some sort where I do not know anyone...

I am 22. Never been on a date. FML. GL dude.

Thx man. But I have to ask... never had any of the other firsts? It ain't that bad :p

Can I say that's a bad idea... Present her with a small bunch of flowers (r50, NOT MORE) when you pick her up by all means. But grand romantic gestures often come off as creepy if you aren't already quite serious about one another.

Agreed, small bunch of flowers, not roses IMO. Don't do anything drastic either as cerebus said.
